Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Who is More Important? (Part 2)This is more like it, Asher Land lifted the corner of his mouth.
"Let her in," he said to Robert Williams who was standing by his side.
Robert Williams received Asher Landās instruction, nodded, turned, and walked out.
In no time, Robert Williams brought Eva Miller into the hospital room.
"Sophie!" Eva Miller was excited and just about to approach, but was stopped by a sharp look from Asher Land.
"Eva, are you okay?" Sophie Smith took the initiative to step forward and gave Eva Miller a big hug.
Eva Miller didnāt even have the courage to look Sophie Smith in the eyes. After all, she was the real culprit, if it werenāt for her, none of this would have happened, and Sophie wouldnāt have to suffer so much pain.
There was already a hint of understanding in Asher Landās shrewd eyes; this matter most likely had something to do with this woman named Eva Miller.
These days, he had been busy taking care of Sophie Smith and hadnāt managed the companyās affairs. The kidnappers, apart from inflicting some physical suffering, hadnāt been dealt with yet. It seemed today he could get some information from this woman.
"We want to chat alone for a while, can you step out for a moment?" Sophie Smith said to Asher Land.
"Is there something I canāt hear?" Although it was a rhetorical question, according to Asher Landās temperament, the implication was that thereās no way heās leaving.
Sophie Smith felt a bit helpless. She had many personal questions she wanted to ask Eva Miller. They were deeply close like sisters; what was Asher Land doing here?
"Iāll give you twenty minutes. If you donāt say it by then, then just come home with me."
Eva Miller was a bit surprised. Since when did Sophie Smith have such a good relationship with Asher Land? Even going home together?
"You..." Sophie Smith was in a dilemma, but it was Eva Miller who spoke up first.
"Sophie, I have nothing to hide. I came this time just to apologize to you. I was the one who harmed you. Iām sorry..."
As expected, Asher Land crossed his arms, about to continue listening.
"Eva, itās no big deal, letās not talk about this for now, okay?"
Sophie Smith felt a bit uneasy. She was afraid that after Asher Land heard the ins and outs of this matter, he would take some adverse actions against Eva Miller.
"Continue!" Asher Landās tone was somewhat cold.
Eva Miller lowered her head, gathering a great deal of courage to speak out the truth.
"It was all because of my vanity. I shouldnāt have borrowed money from those people, but I really had no choice. I just entered the entertainment circle, without money or background, I simply canāt stand a chance..."
Sophie Smith came to understand what Eva Miller meant. The entertainment industry is a place that burns money; you need to appear glamorous every day. Without a certain level of financial strength, how could you look glamorous?
"So, what you mean is you borrowed money from those people, and because you couldnāt repay, you dragged Sophie into it as a scapegoat, is that right?"
"Asher Land!" Sophie Smith couldnāt help but call out. She was displeased with the way he spoke to Eva Miller. Eva was her best friend; she didnāt do it on purpose. Why was he so aggressive?
"I believe in Eva. She had her reasons for doing what she did."
"Are you crazy or stupid? She obviously knew it was dangerous yet still dragged you into it. Is this justifiable?" Asher Land sneered, saying to Sophie Smith.
"President Land, Sophie, please donāt argue." Eva Miller hung her head in guilt. This was probably the biggest mistake she had made in her twenty-one years of life.
"If President Land, you donāt want me to have any relationship with Sophie again, then I will never come looking for her in the future."
Asher Land was about to say something when he heard Sophie Smith speak first.
"This matter is none of his business."
