Sophie Smith followed Asher Land all the way to the master bedroom, softly closing the door behind her.
"Where have you been for this past week?" he suddenly asked in a deep voice.
"At the company."
There was a sense of inexplicable anger in Asherās heart; he knew that if he hadnāt sought her out, she wouldnāt have returned on her own.
Sophie could naturally see that he was in a bad mood, and she felt it was necessary to talk to him about certain things.
"I want to move out of here," she said, enunciating each word.
"Say it again," he said, his face tense. Undoubtedly, Sophieās words had angered him.
Given the situation, she hadnāt bothered to properly explain why she didnāt want to stay with the Land Family and yet was saying such things about leaving. What kind of madness was she expressing?
"I want to move out of here," she reiterated.
"Impossible," he said decisively.
Sophie was somewhat dejected. Now that Irene Morton had moved back into the Land Family, their relationship was no longer as it used to be. Irene had started to dislike her; this much, she could tell.
But if she continued to stay here, under the same roof, constantly running into each other, it would inevitably be awkward.
For some reason, there was a strange feeling in her heart, as if she were sharing a man with Irene...
She really hated this kind of situation.
Whenever Sophie remained silent, it was usually because she was contemplating something; he didnāt like the feeling of being unable to decipher her emotions.
"Come here," he said to her, sitting on the leather chair.
Sophie hesitated for a moment and then walked over. He extended his long arm, pulling her over so she sat on his lap.
"You can move out of the Land Family..."
There was a glimmer of hope in Sophieās eyes as she stared into his handsome eyes.
"Take me with you."
Sophie was about to say something, but he didnāt give her the chance; a lingering kiss enveloped the words she was about to speak.
Dried wood and fierce fire, escalating further, he expertly teased every sensitive nerve of hers.
When Sophie awoke, Asher Land was no longer by her side.
As she was dressing, the door suddenly opened, and she instinctively grabbed her clothes to cover her body.
The person at the door was not Asher Land; it was Irene Morton.
Without so much as a greeting, Irene walked straight in, casually shut the door, and locked it.
Sophie felt a bit awkward; her body bore traces of Asherās affection, and she hadnāt even put on her clothes yet. Even though they were both women, in this situation, she felt somewhat uneasy.
"Irene, do you, do you need something?"
"You should put on your clothes first," Irene said, turning away and no longer looking at her.
A bit flustered, Sophie picked up the robe from the bed and wrapped it around herself.
"Iām ready, you..." Sophie didnāt know what to say to Irene; all in all, there was increasingly less to say between them.
The once lively and adorable Irene now seemed somewhat deeper.
"Sister Sophie, I want to talk to you about Brother Asher,"
Asher Land?
"What do you want to say?"
"I know that in Brother Asherās heart, he only sees me as a sister, but I like him, you know?" Irene said without any ambiguity, directly getting to the point.
"From now on, I wonāt say anything asking you to leave Brother Asher, because even if you are willing to leave, he may not be willing to let go."
"I just want to compete fairly with you; I love Brother Asher, and I want to be his wife," Ireneās eyes were full of seriousness.
