Sophie Smith stood at the company entrance, hesitating for a long time, finally deciding to rush into the rain.
She lifted her bag to shield her head and was about to run into the rain when a somewhat familiar figure suddenly appeared in her line of sight.
Oliver Johnson approached her slowly, holding a large black umbrella.
"I saw you hesitating at the company entrance for quite a while, you probably didnāt bring an umbrella, right?" He smiled lightly, as if there was no unfamiliarity between them, even though they had only met a few times.
"What are you doing here?" She couldnāt hide the surprise in her eyes.
"This is what you call a perfectly timed coincidence." He held the umbrella over her head, "Where are you going, let me give you a ride."
"Oh, I..." Sophie hesitated a bit.
"You wouldnāt be thinking of finding a reason to refuse me, would you? If thatās the case, Iād be really sad." He joked.
Sophie smiled apologetically. She didnāt refuse; Oliver was being kind, how could she lack understanding of human kindness?
"Then please, I want to go home." She casually gave the address of the apartment she used to share with Asher Land, luckily, she always carried the key with her.
She naturally didnāt dare ask Oliver to take her back to the Land Familyās villa.
Oliver thoughtfully opened the car door for her before sitting in the driverās seat.
He carefully observed her through the rear-view mirror.
Her face was calm, but her continuously rubbing hands betrayed a bit of her unease.
Sophie tried hard to keep her eyes wide open, but after a dayās work, she was indeed a bit weary. Her head leaned against the car window, eyes blinking, eventually closing.
Oliverās lips curved slightly upwards, affection flashing in his eyes, he turned up the carās heater, afraid she might catch cold.
He drove to the address Sophie gave him and looked toward the back seat. She was sound asleep, showing no sign of waking up, so he didnāt disturb her, instead quietly waiting.
About an hour and a half later, Sophie finally woke up.
She squinted her still blurry eyes at her surroundings and then noticed that Oliver had already brought her to the apartment building.
"Did I sleep for a long time?" Sophie gave a slightly apologetic smile, "You could have woken me up."
"Itās okay, as long as you slept well."
Now, Sophie felt even more embarrassed, a blush rising on her face from the awkwardness.
"Thank you so much for today, why not come up for a cup of tea?" Sophie politely suggested.
"Alright."
Unexpectedly, Oliver nodded without hesitation.
"Wait here for a moment," Sophie said, then quickly got out of the car.
She ran to a nearby convenience store, swiftly grabbing a bag of tea leaves from the shelf, then heading to the cashier to pay.
She put the tea leaves in her bag and then nonchalantly walked to the parked car.
She knocked on the car window, Oliver got out, and they walked into the apartment elevator together.
When Sophie took out her keys from her bag, Oliver accidentally saw the bag of tea inside, the curve of his lips involuntarily rising even more.
The apartment was a bit messy since it hadnāt been visited in a while; Sophie tidied up the sofa, then ran into the kitchen to boil some water.
"You probably donāt live here often, do you?"
Oliver stood behind her, observing her busy figure as he spoke.
