Chapter 19: Chapter 17 Mind Your Own BusinessFor a moment, Maya was stunned.
It was her first time being kissed, her large eyes staring dumbfounded at Henry, as if she were scared stiff.
Henry looked at Mayaâs surprised expression, raised his hands to cradle her face, and looked into her eyes with deep affection, asking,
"Maya, why canât you just understand me?"
As Maya listened to Henryâs implicit confession, she suddenly pushed him away, and said very calmly, "Iâm not full yet, Iâm going to eat."
Even though Maya did her best to control her emotions, trying to appear as calm and indifferent as usual, her panicked evasive gaze betrayed her.
Outside the door, Elia watched the scene inside the piano room, gritting her teeth in anger, wishing she could smash open the door and tear that face of Mayaâs.
These past few days, seeing her getting close to Ethan, she had let out a sigh of relief, but never expected that this woman Maya, wanting the bowl after having the pot, just wouldnât let go of her Henry.
Even though Elia was very angry, she suppressed it, didnât knock on the door, didnât make a scene; she didnât want to ruin her image in Henryâs mind, and had no choice but to swallow her pride and leave.
In the piano room, Maya raised her small hands, grabbing Henryâs wrists that were holding her face, nervously looking into his eyes and said, "Iâm hungry."
"Okay! Iâll take you out for dinner."
Upon hearing Maya say she was hungry, Henry quickly let go of her face, took her little hand, and walked towards the door.
Seeing that Henry didnât understand her excuse, Maya abruptly shook off his hand and said bluntly, "No need, Ethan and Ella are still waiting for me at the restaurant."
"Maya, didnât you hear what I just said?" Henry was getting a bit anxious.
"Youâre nothing to me, I donât need your care."
At this moment, Maya resumed her usual aloofness, throwing that kiss just now far away.
"Maya, stop."
Maya didnât listen to him and kept moving forward; Henry took big strides to catch up, pulling her to pin her against the wall, pressing down her shoulders, looking into her eyes, and said word by word.
"Maya, I like you, from now on, Iâm your boyfriend, you donât have the right to refuse."
"Henry, let go."
Finally, the confession Maya least wanted to hear had arrived, as she imagined, hearing his confession, she felt annoyed and more of a burden.
She couldnât even take responsibility for herself, how could she take responsibility for anyone elseâs feelings.
"Maya, I said I like you, did you hear that? Maya, I like you, from the first moment I saw you, Iâve liked you, youâre mine, no one can take you away."
"I donât like you."
"Hmm..." Just as Mayaâs words of dislike fell, her lips were sealed by him once again.
He wouldnât allow it, he wouldnât allow her to not like him. In Henryâs heart, apart from himself, no one could protect Maya; he believed, as long as Maya nodded, he would surely make her the happiest woman in the world.
She shook her head to protest.
She made whining sounds from her mouth, using both her hands and feet, pushing and kicking, yet he remained unmoved.
Finally, she gave in, stopped struggling, like a dead person, giving no response.
Until her breathing became rapid, until she was kissed until she coughed, he finally let her go.
The moment Maya was released, she quickly pushed Henry away, turned around, coughing as she walked towards the door, as if she hadnât even noticed Henryâs presence.
Henry watched her leave silently, feeling a strong pain in his heart.
Why? Why doesnât Maya like him? What isnât he doing well enough? Why does Maya not smile at him, but can smile at a man sheâs known for just a few days?
Henry felt very bitter, but didnât dare do anything to her again; he feared she would explode, feared she would hate him.
He hadnât planned on confessing so early, but ultimately, it had come to this, making their relationship awkward.
When Maya returned to the restaurant, the Turner siblings were still waiting for her.
Seeing the siblings smiling at her, Maya put away her aloof expression and returned their smile warmly.
"Maya, I just got you another serving, still hot, hurry and eat." When Ella saw Maya coming, she quickly urged her to eat.
But Ethan remained silent; as a guy, seeing Mayaâs suddenly reddened lips, he could guess what had happened, and he could also see the manâs guardedness towards him and his affection for Maya; no doubt the two had just laid their cards on the table.
Watching Maya with her head down eating, Ethan suddenly felt an urge to protect her, stronger than ever before.
So, he reached out, grabbing Mayaâs wrist, and said solemnly, "Maya, if anything happens, just tell us. Ella and I will always be on your side."
"Yes, yes, Maya, donât be polite with us. My brother and I will always back you up, no matter what." Ella added.
Maya looked at the siblings before her, lifting her head, she smiled at them, a smile more radiant than ever.
She silently vowed in her heart that no matter when Ethan and Ella needed help, she would go through fire and water for them.
After lunch, Ethan escorted the two girls back to their dormitory, only then did he feel at ease returning to his own dorm for a nap.
Though there was a minor episode at noon today, the afternoon thankfully went peacefully, without any waves.
After evening self-study, the two girls, arm in arm, chatted as they walked down the path toward their dormitory.
When they reached the small woods, a few boys suddenly blocked their path.
Ella tugged Maya to the left, wanting to avoid the men before them, but they also moved left, blocking their way back.
Maya scrutinized the boys in front of her, took a deep breath, thinking, these guys must be connected to Elia.
Every time after she met Henry, Elia would make a move, it was already a pattern.
Fearing she might drag Ella into it, she said to her, "Ella, I left my phone in the classroom, could you get it for me?"
"Maya, letâs go together." Ella naturally knew these boys werenât friendly, so she wanted to drag Maya away with her.
"Do yourself a favor and get lost, donât drag yourself into this." The lead guy shouted at Ella impatiently as he saw her hesitating to pull Maya away.
"Ella, donât make me angry, go." All Maya could think of was getting Ella away, having one person suffer is better than two.
