Chapter 51: Chapter 49: It’s All DramaNowadays, whenever people see Liam, they always ask him about Maya. It’s as if they are glued together.

He gave Henry Reid a once-over and replied dismissively, "I don’t know."

He knew very well that she wasn’t doing well, he knew she was in the hospital, yet he chose to lie. He just didn’t want Maya to have a good time; he didn’t want her to have any beautiful memories on this day. Wasn’t she trying to act pitiful? Well, then let her pretend all she wants.

In Liam’s eyes, Maya wasn’t worth anyone being kind to her, not worth any sympathy. That innocent little face of hers was all an act, fooling everyone.

"Maya isn’t coming back with you by car! It’s really strange, her phone has been unreachable all day." Henry looked concerned, as if there had never been any unpleasantness between him and Maya.

It was as if just a while ago, the two hadn’t argued at the school gate, as if Maya hadn’t shown him a sour face and said hurtful things.

Liam looked at the anxious man before him, glanced at him nonchalantly, and went upstairs.

Henry waited at the Spencer Family home for an hour, and when Maya still hadn’t returned, he put down the cake and went out to look for her.

In fact, he had already visited the school earlier; classmates told him Maya didn’t attend classes today, not even the physical test.

Henry thought Maya was avoiding him, so after school, he headed straight to the Spencer Family’s separate residence, but to his surprise, she wasn’t there either.

Despite thousands of reluctances in his heart, he didn’t want to contact the Turner siblings, but at this moment, apart from them, he seemingly had no one else to seek help from.

On the phone, Ella told Henry that Maya was ill today and Elijah took her to the hospital. She’s hospitalized and sleeping; Ella had just returned from the hospital.

Under Henry’s relentless persistence, Ella couldn’t resist his coaxing and gave him the hospital and ward information.

Henry then bought a bouquet of flowers and a cake and rushed to the hospital.

Since his unpleasant encounter with Maya at the school gate, he hadn’t dared to approach her, and he planned to take this opportunity to mend fences.

In the hospital room, when Henry arrived, Elijah was waiting in the living room outside the ward, with an air of authority, keeping a close watch on Henry.

Henry looked at the man in front of him, feeling inexplicable anger as he couldn’t help but recall the photos from the forum, where Elijah took Maya to the hospital and even carried her to the room.

"Young Master Reid, Miss Maya is asleep. You should leave!"

"Elijah, you’re just Liam’s assistant. Why are you guarding Maya’s ward?"

Henry quickly approached Elijah, grabbed him by the collar, pulled him up from the sofa, and angrily questioned him.

"Young Master Reid, if I can’t guard her, surely you can’t either? Miss Maya said she doesn’t want to see anyone. You should go. She’ll contact you after she’s discharged." As Elijah spoke, he loosened Henry’s grip on his collar.

He wasn’t intentionally stopping Henry from seeing Maya; it was just that Maya wasn’t in any state to receive visitors. Even when Ella came to see her, he sent her away. Elijah wanted to keep Maya’s bullying incident a secret, as such matters could have a severe impact on the girl.

"Elijah, calling you Assistant Reed was giving you face. Don’t be shameless. To put it bluntly, you’re just Liam’s dog."

At this moment, Henry vented all his anger on Elijah, feeling that it was because of him that Maya was avoiding him. He believed this man had surely taken advantage of Maya, and that Maya was forced to be with him.

Faced with Henry’s provocation, Elijah was very angry. Had it not been for them being in Maya’s ward, Henry would have received a punch.

He took a deep breath, raised his right hand, grabbed Henry’s collar, and angrily said, "I call you Young Master Reid out of courtesy to Young Master Norton. You really think you’re important? Even if I’m Liam’s dog, I’m better than you. Also, don’t pester Maya anymore; can’t you see she doesn’t like you?"

"Bang!" As soon as Elijah finished speaking, he received a heavy punch from Henry.

That man dared to tell him not to pester Maya; who did he think he was? Of course, Henry couldn’t swallow this, so he raised his right arm and landed a punch on Elijah’s face.

At this, Elijah couldn’t hold back either and returned the punch.

And so, the two men started fighting in the living room of the ward, knocking down the bouquet and smashing the birthday cake on the ground. They grappled fiercely, neither willing to yield.

In the bedroom, Maya was woken by the commotion outside, and hearing the sounds of fighting, she lifted the thin blanket off herself, crawled out of bed, put on slippers, walked to the bedroom door, opened the door, and saw the two men fighting in the living room.

Seeing the scene in front of her, Maya expressionlessly slammed the door shut with a "bang" and locked it.

The sound of Maya shutting the door startled Elijah and Henry. They quickly released each other and rushed to the bedroom door, knocking and shouting.

"Miss Maya!"

"Maya!"

Inside, Maya listened to the voices of the two men and slowly walked toward the bay window, opened the glass window, curled up, and sat on the bay window.

A warm breeze blew past, bringing warmth to her cold body. Even though the hot air carried an irritating taste, which could make one restless, Maya remained extraordinarily calm, free from anxiety, as if she’d forgotten about the two men outside her bedroom.

Her big eyes blinked at the night view of S City, a view so beautiful it felt lonely.

She wondered if the biggest sorrow of her life was today. Today, she had died, her heart had died!

The faint hope she’d had for life was completely extinguished by Liam.

Hearing the sounds of arguing outside, she lowered her head, turning her small face to rest against her knees, silently humming a tune.

Maya stayed in the hospital for three days, and it was only when the attending doctor said she was fine that she left the hospital. When Elijah came to pick her up, he found she had already left.

He couldn’t help but recall Maya’s words to him two days ago, saying, "Elijah, if you want to be okay, stay away from me."

He couldn’t understand the meaning behind her words or that she was warning him not to be suspected by Liam.

When Maya returned home, everyone looked at her as if she were a monster, whispering behind her back.

"Third Young Master, you’re back!" Upon hearing someone at the door addressing the Third Young Master, Maya quickened her pace toward her bedroom.
