Chapter 36: Chapter 34: Captured AgainAfter parking the car, she led Maya Spencer into a Shanghai cuisine restaurant. The restaurant had an ambiance perfect for romance.

However, after settling Maya Spencer in, the man said to her, "Classmate, please sit for a while, I’ll be right back."

"Oh!" Maya Spencer replied coldly, watching the man leave the restaurant.

Sitting at the table, she flipped through the menu, not daring to order because she didn’t have enough money. So she just sat in front of the table drinking lemon water, wondering whether the man had already left, whether he had abandoned her here deliberately to embarrass her, to avenge the grudge of her throwing shoes at the car.

Moments later, the man returned, carrying two bags, one large and one small. Maya recognized the large bag; it contained a shoebox.

Looking at the shoebox in the man’s hand, she held her breath and instinctively felt the shoes were meant for her.

With wide eyes, she watched the man closely. After their gaze collided, the man smiled at her, his smile very gentle.

When he reached her table, he knelt on one knee in front of Maya, placing her shoeless right foot on a nearby chair. He took out bandages from the small bag and cleaned her sole with pure water.

Maya felt embarrassed instantly, quickly pulling her foot back and refusing the man’s kindness.

"The weather is hot, if the wound isn’t treated, it might get inflamed." Saying this, the man grabbed her foot again, continuing to clean it.

This time, he used considerable force, not allowing Maya to pull her foot back.

After cleaning and medicating the wound, he wrapped it with bandages and then took out a pair of new sandals from another box and put them on her.

The man’s gentleness left Maya completely stunned, thinking to herself, could it be that she truly was starting to have good luck? Recently, people have been kind to her; she has been making friends, not only with the Turner siblings but Liam Spencer has saved her several times and now there’s this stranger tonight.

"Have you ordered? Just order whatever you like to eat. I’ll wash my hands and be right back."

Watching the man’s back as he left again, Maya’s bad mood vanished; she felt that God had started to favor her, her life was gradually changing for the better.

After dinner, it was already dark, and the man drove Maya home again.

As Maya got out of the car, he glanced around the residence and said with a smile, "Classmate, until we meet again."

Seeing his smile full of meaning, Maya shyly said, "Thank you for tonight."

As she watched the man’s car leave, Maya then turned around and went home. Though not familiar with the man, she couldn’t refuse his kindness.

Upon entering the living room, she bumped into Liam Spencer coming down from the second floor, holding a cup of coffee.

When their eyes met, they quickly diverted their gaze from each other, pretending not to see each other, as if they had never been on good terms.

Dragging her aching foot, Maya limped towards her bedroom. The man standing behind her noticed she had changed into new shoes and that her foot was wrapped in bandages—clearly not professionally done and not done at a hospital.

"Bang!" Hearing the sound of her door closing, his lips curled into a slight smile as he thought coldly, what was the pitiful act last night all about, anyway? She didn’t need his protection at all.

Then, he turned and went upstairs.

In the study, he dialed Elijah Reed’s number and asked, "Elijah, did you see Maya today?"

"BOSS, I wouldn’t dare to see Ms. Spencer, or the rumors would spread even more heavily."

"Hmm! I see."

After hanging up the phone, Liam Spencer took a deep breath. Since it wasn’t Elijah, and she couldn’t have met with Henry Reid, and the Turner siblings couldn’t afford the shoes on her feet, who did she meet today, who brought her down from the overpass?

He was curious about who was behind Maya and what she intended to do in the Spencer Family, by his side.

Since that night, the relationship between the two was almost restored to liberation times; you ignore me, I ignore you. However, Liam did not deliberately make things difficult for her anymore, even suspending tutoring sessions.

Until the day the Spencer family went to attend the Spencer Clan’s 30th anniversary annual meeting, only then did the two intersect again.

That night, all the servants at home were summoned by Hannah to the banquet, ostensibly to help but in reality to flaunt, to flaunt how glamorous she, as the mistress, was at the banquet. She wouldn’t miss any opportunity for others to pay homage to her.

So that night gave Maya a perfect opportunity.

In front of the desk, she casually sat on the chair, took out her mother’s diary from the drawer, and continued reading from the last place she left off.

Her mother’s diary was simple, mostly trivial life details and emotional thoughts, occasionally mentioning people other than Maya. Whenever someone else appeared in the diary, Maya would heighten her vigilance and privately investigate, wondering if they were related to her mother’s death.

"Snap! Snap! Snap!" Just as she was engrossed in reading, the sound of photographing suddenly startled her. She abruptly lifted her head, looking towards the door.

Seeing a man in a suit at the door, Maya rolled her eyes at him indifferently and continued reading the diary. After all, this wasn’t the first time he caught her, if he wanted to betray her, he would have done it long ago, not waited until today, so she simply ignored him.

Recalling his distrust and mockery, she felt there was still distance between the two.

At the doorway, Liam Spencer watched the person who ignored him, feeling a little annoyed. He knew she wouldn’t miss the opportunity tonight.

Sure enough, he returned early from the banquet and caught her.

He took a deep breath, opened his phone, and sent the photos to a certain email address, his phone immediately notifying him, "Your email has been successfully sent."

Instantly, Maya was stunned, frowning deeply, staring at the man at the door and asked, "What did you send? To whom?"

Her subconscious felt that Liam sent her photos out, perhaps to her father, or perhaps to her grandfather, but no matter who it was, she couldn’t allow another person to know her whereabouts.

Listened to her questioning, Liam, without even glancing at her, played with his phone, turned around, and left, thinking she was proud wasn’t she? Keep it up! He didn’t mind at all.

Maya saw this, hurriedly got up to chase him, grabbed his arm, and asked, "What did you send? To whom did you send it?"

Liam looked at her rudeness, expressionlessly shook off her hand, and continued to walk forward.

At this point, Maya wouldn’t let go, reaching out to snatch his phone. She couldn’t let him have any evidence against her. Unfortunately, she wasn’t as tall as his shoulders. He raised his arm, leaving her without a chance.

She jumped up several times to no avail, and simply, like a sloth, wrapped her legs around his waist, kicking and climbing up to snatch his phone.
