Chapter 29: Chapter 27 He Hates MeLiam Spencer said this while playfully teasing her, holding her hands in his left hand without any restraint.
Maya Spencer was very annoyed, and suddenly remembered something, this feeling seemed familiar.
"Youâre really wild!" Liam said to Maya, feeling both disdain and anger.
However, at this moment, Mayaâs brain felt like it was electrified. The scene from that night in the hotel flooded her mind completely. She vaguely remembered Elijah Reed carrying her into the suite and placing her on the bed.
Then Liam arrived, and it seemed like he had tied her up. She had bitten him, and it also seemed like he was helping her with the antidote just like right now.
Maya couldnât tell if her memories were real or not, as they seemed too surreal.
But at this moment, she released her bite, no longer biting him; her lips and teeth had blood on them, and his neck was also bloodied.
At this moment, she was dumbfounded, not knowing what to do next, as if there were many misunderstandings in between.
But she couldnât see the truth, and she wasnât willing to admit her memories were facts.
"You truly are shameless, Maya. To seduce me, youâll stop at nothing. You even came up with a provocation trick, yet you canât solve textbook problems," Liam taunted.
Then he added, "Do you really think you can successfully seduce me?"
At this moment, Liam increasingly believed there was a conspiracy between Maya and the old man, or perhaps a deal, as the old manâs attitude towards Maya yesterday was vastly different from usual.
Listening to Liamâs taunts, Maya broke away from him, grabbing his collar, and warned, "Liam, donât be so smug. Once I uncover the truth, if you did something to me, I wonât let you get away with it."
"Iâll wait for you!"
"Boss, Iâm sorry, I misspoke to Miss Maya." Finally, Elijah Reed pushed open the door, and before he even saw the scene in front of him, he quickly apologized.
Seeing the two on the ground, noticing Mayaâs blood-stained mouth and tear-covered face grabbing Liamâs collar, and Liamâs neck with a bloody bite mark, Elijah took a deep breath and stood frozen on the spot.
Thinking that these two indeed share the same fiery temper, and they actually got into a fight, he was even more impressed by Maya. She usually kept to herself, but when she took action, it was truly frightening. Alright, he admits, Maya had stunned him.
"Boss, Iâm sorry!" Elijah continued to apologize.
At this time, Liam finally let go of Mayaâs hand and quickly got up from the ground.
Then Maya also got up from the ground.
Liam looked at Elijah, who was full of apologies, took a deep breath, lifted his right hand, pointed at him with his index finger, about to speak but hesitated.
Elijah quickly admitted his mistake, "Boss, I was wrong, Iâll forfeit a monthâs salary."
"Is that enough?"
"A quarter!"
Liam, hearing Elijah willing to forfeit a quarterâs salary, finally let him go. Meanwhile, he glanced at his fiery-tempered sister from the corner of his eye, who had already gotten up from the ground, expressionless, and walked past him, heading for the door.
"Boss, Iâm leaving first, so as not to disturb you." Elijah hurriedly left, fearing Liam would change his mind.
As he closed the door behind him, he dashed to catch up with Maya. When he reached the staircase, he grabbed her clothing and said, "Miss Maya, how could you hit the boss?"
Maya impatiently shook him off, ignoring him, wondering why she couldnât hit Liam, why she always ended up the one being bullied.
Ever since being branded as Spencer Familyâs illegitimate daughter, her beautiful life had been ruined. Friends and classmates all ignored her, and everyone who saw her seemed to dislike her. But was any of this her choice?
Even her own family, who shared the same blood with her, disliked her. Truly, she must have committed sins in her previous life.
"Miss Maya, are you alright? Are you hurt?" Afterward, Elijah began to show concern about whether Maya was injured.
Judging by the state when he opened the room door earlier, the boss seemed very angry and was unlikely to let Maya off easily.
"He said that night he found two homeless men to help with the antidote, and they even had a virus," Maya changed the subject, looking for confirmation from Elijah.
"Impossible, the boss has no grudge against you, why would he hurt you that way, Miss Maya, youâre overthinking."
"Iâm Spencer Familyâs illegitimate daughter; he hates me."
"Oh! Youâre actually alive and kicking! Truly audacious." As they made it to the living room, they ran into Hannah, who had a gloating expression, feeling that things hadnât escalated enough.
Maya and Elijah both ignored her and continued walking towards the front door. Once they reached the yard, Elijah suddenly grabbed Mayaâs wrist and said,
"Miss Maya, you truly have misunderstood. If you donât believe it, I can take you to the hospital for a check-up, and the hotel surveillance, I can help you retrieve it."
"I donât have money for a check-up."
"I do!"
So Elijah took Maya to the hospital, where Maya told the doctor she might have interacted with a virus carrier. After a preliminary check, the doctor asked if she had remembered incorrectly and told her she hadnât had any contact with a man, advising her to return in three days for the blood report.
Then Elijah accompanied Maya to the hotel, and from the surveillance footage, they saw that after Elijah left the suite, no one else had entered.
Maya watched the video, growing increasingly anxious. Could it be, her memories were true?
Thinking that such a result was worse than not knowing, it might have been better to mistakenly believe she had taken advantage of Elijah.
On the way back, Elijah smugly said, "Miss Maya, didnât I say? My boss isnât that kind of person at all."
"Elijah, that night in the woods, my necklace was taken by them. Can you help me get it back?"
"Sure, Iâll definitely do it!"
Maya hadnât expected the third sonâs assistant to be so obedient to her, caring about her matters so diligently.
So, she considered Elijah and the Turner siblings as good people; the rest were heartless.
After getting home, Maya hid in her bedroom, thinking about the scenes from earlier in the day, feeling that she had been too impulsive, causing misunderstandings.
Especially considering she would still need Liam to tutor her, making her even more frustrated.
To avoid Liam, she skipped lunch and dinner, hoping to get through the night. Ultimately, her room door was still knocked on.
"Miss Maya, you need to let the third master tutor you, as the old master has instructed."
