Henry saw Maya’s self-deprecation and felt extremely uncomfortable. The steadfast confidence he always had was finally shaken by her; it turned out Maya really disliked him, and it was just his own overconfidence.

He took a deep breath, raised his right hand, and gently touched Maya’s little face, "Stop saying those harsh words. It pains my heart when you do this."

Maya looked at Henry’s pained expression and his desolate demeanor, thinking to herself that if she was going to act, she might as well go all out and add fuel to the fire, so he could completely give up.

So she sneered twice, removed Henry’s hand, and asked him, "Henry, do you know what I did just now?"

"I don’t want to know."

"I just went to my boyfriend’s company, are you sure you still like me despite being so cheap?"

"Maya, shut up, don’t say anymore." Henry looked at Maya’s hopeless attitude, somewhat annoyed, he grasped her shoulders tightly, forcing her to be quiet.

"Henry, are you stupid?" Maya said while starting to undress, showing him the marks on her body, hoping he would completely give up and stop wasting time.

Henry’s kindness towards her created pressure and guilt. Looking at his innocent gaze, she inexplicably pitied him, feeling unworthy of his affection.

Knowing full well there would be no result between them, she didn’t want to waste his emotions or time.

Henry looked at the indifferent Maya, watched her nonchalantly take off clothes, saw the various kiss marks on her body, and imagined her offering herself to another man. For a moment, Henry was stunned, his mind blank.

How could his Maya be such an unscrupulous girl? But those glaring marks were indeed real, beyond doubt.

Seeing the mocking smile at the corners of her mouth, seeing her continually ask him, did he see it? Those were evidence of her love for someone else.

Henry was about to go mad, driven insane by Maya. Then he heard a loud slap.

Suddenly, the office became quiet, Maya’s voice ceased, and he didn’t even hear her breathing.

When Henry came back to his senses, he saw Maya covering her little face with her right hand, lowering her head, and squatting motionlessly in front of the desk.

It was then that Henry realized, in his fury, he slapped Maya.

Henry, overwhelmed with anger, acted impulsively, slapped Maya, telling her to shut up. That slap used nearly all his strength, and Maya couldn’t bear his slap, accidentally bumping into the desk corner, causing her stomach to hurt so much she squatted on the ground, motionless.

The man never imagined he would one day lay hands on Maya. Seeing her squatting on the ground, he panicked and knelt before her with a thud, cupping her face to explain.

"Maya, I’m sorry! I acted in a moment of carelessness, I’m sorry! I’m sorry!"

As he cupped Maya’s little face, he found it swollen from his slap, with blood at the corners of her mouth, her face showing pain.

Faced with Henry’s apology, Maya remained silent, thinking to herself, if this slap could calm him down, could make him stop loving her, then she’d accept it.

Troubles never come singly for her today. At this moment, it felt like a dream, her mind dizzy, unable to process anything.

Listening to Henry’s apology, she squatted on the ground, her little face being held, her gaze not directed at him, slowly covering her chest, sneakily fastening the remaining buttons.

Seeing Maya not speaking, Henry immediately grabbed her little hand, slapped it against his own face, saying, "Maya, I’m sorry, I was too angry just now, hit me back, okay? You can hit me as many times as you want, Maya, please, don’t be mad at me, alright?"

Maya heard the man’s plea, swallowed a gulp of air, withdrew her little hand and calmly said, "I’m not angry. You’ve helped me so much before, what does a slap matter? If it makes you feel better, you can give me a few more, it’s not a problem."

In reality, Henry’s slap had instead cleared Maya’s mind, allowing her to recognize her current position, seeing clearly that she couldn’t offend anyone, nor was there anyone she could offend.

For too long, she has overestimated herself, overestimated her abilities and endurance.

"Hmm! I hope that day comes," Maya replied calmly.

Henry saw her disdain and determination, let go and walked away. After half a month without seeing her, he never imagined the next meeting would end like this.

He always thought she was pressured by the Spencer Family, so she intentionally disguised herself, but it turned out she had no one in her heart.

After Henry left, Maya locked herself in the office and secretly cried. Within a day, she felt she was on the brink of collapse, all defenses crumbling. Why must she be the Spencer Family’s illegitimate child? Why did her mother abandon her? Why was her life so painful?

Until the evening, when the denouncing meeting with Kinsley was taking place in the living room, she still hadn’t gone home.
