Chapter 24: Chapter 22: Flirting and Bickering"Mmm-hmm, letâs go back to your room and watch," Henry Reid said as he stood up, grabbing Maya Spencerâs little hand, completely ignoring the girl running towards him.
Jane Spencer was upstairs, watching their little antics, covering her mouth as she laughed, thinking, this bold little girl, isnât she afraid of Hannah and Elia?
However, Maya wouldnât let Henry into her room to check her body. She tilted her head back, looking at him with deep affection, and said, "No way! I have something to do now and need to go out."
"Maya, where are you going? Iâll take you."
"Um... um, do you have any money? Iâm going to visit someone in the hospital, but I donât have money to buy a gift."
"I do! I do! As much as you need." Henry was eager to give Maya anything she needed, even if it meant giving up the entire Reid Family estate. He quickly took out his wallet to give her money.
Maya looked at Henryâs open wallet, raised her small hand, took it, and removed a wad of red bills, saying with a cheeky grin, "Just this much is enough." She then handed the wallet back to him.
Seeing this, Henry opened his wallet again, pulled out his black card, and handed it to her, saying, "Maya, how can this small amount be enough? Take this card; it has no limit, buy whatever you want."
"Henry, are you silly? Just because you have a lot of money doesnât mean I canât spend it all. Iâm not arguing with you; Iâm going to see my friend." Maya didnât take Henryâs card, sashayed her waist, and walked towards the door, feeling satisfied at the pale face behind her.
Originally, she didnât want to have any entanglements with Henry, but seeing the excitement on Eliaâs face as she ran toward him annoyed her. She just wanted to upset her, to see if she would still provoke her in the future.
Sure enough, Elia was infuriated, having to hold her breath in her chest when she saw Maya flirting with Henry. She regretted not getting rid of her last night.
In the living room, Henry watched Mayaâs departing figure and quickly chased after her to take her to the hospital.
Upstairs, Jane saw this group of trouble-making little rascals, smiled slightly, thinking, the Spencer Family was becoming more and more interesting. This quiet girl couldnât be underestimated, she might just turn the family upside down.
Watching Mayaâs almost disappearing figure, she reminded her with a smile, "Maya, come back early tonight, Grandpa wants to go out for dinner."
"Okay!" Maya responded without even turning her head.
In Henryâs car, Maya turned her head, sitting in the front passenger seat, not looking directly at him.
Henry, noticing the suddenly silent Maya, reached out his big hand, held her small one, and said, "Maya, from now on, letâs not go back to live at home. The apartment I got for you is so beautiful, all of it in the princess series, just perfect for you."
"Henry, are you silly? I was only using you to annoy Elia earlier, canât you tell?"
"I know, Iâm willing to let you annoy me using Elia for a lifetime."
"..." Maya found herself speechless, sheâd seen foolish people before, but never anyone as foolish as this.
"Maya, Iâm genuinely fond of you. Let me take care of you, okay?"
"Stop the car, I want to get off; we donât have a common language."
"Alright, alright! I wonât talk anymore, letâs go see your friend, okay?"
"Itâs the Turner siblings, right?"
"I didnât expect them to be quite reliable, but one shouldnât be completely trusting."
"Maya, could you treat me like the Turner siblings, treat me as a friend too!"
Faced with Henryâs constant chatter, Maya deeply regretted getting into his car. Itâs a shame he wasnât a monk with his endless preaching.
Then they went to the hospital to visit Ethan Turner. Maya stayed at the hospital until the sun began to set in the afternoon, only then remembering Sister Janeâs reminder â Grandpa would be coming out for dinner tonight. She needed to rush back, as offending Grandpa would make her stay at the Spencer Family unbearable.
So she quickly stood up from the hospital bed and said, "Brother Turner, Ella, my grandpa is coming out for dinner tonight. I canât have dinner with you guys, but Iâll come by again tomorrow."
"Maya, you should go back! Remember to perform well in front of Grandpa, donât let that bitch Elia outshine you," Ella said, recalling last nightâs nightmare, feeling angry at Elia.
"Go on, be careful on your way back," Ethan said.
"Mmm-hmm! Iâll come again tomorrow."
After saying goodbye to the Turner siblings, Maya used Henryâs money to hail a taxi back to the estate.
When Maya arrived back at the estate, Grandpa was already out, with Jane chatting with him. Everyone else gathered around Grandpa, even the second uncle who usually didnât eat at home came back early today.
The whole family was almost there, only the second uncleâs son, Mayaâs second brother, Kinsley, was absent, as he was sent abroad by Grandpa and couldnât return.
"Grandpa!" Maya greeted respectfully when she saw the old man, even though she didnât like anyone with the surname Spencer.
"Oh! Maya, itâs Saturday off, why werenât you at home?" Old Master Spencer turned his head and looked her over.
"Hmph! This wild girl never remembers home, always running outside, canât calm down, probably causing trouble out there again." Hannah seized the chance to mock Maya, worried about missing any chance to badmouth her.
Old Master Spencer looked at Hannahâs disdain for Maya, raised his head, and glared at her. Hannah, like a little mouse, stopped talking.
Although Old Master Spencer usually did whatever she wanted, when he was angry, she was afraid. Moreover, she recently did something against Maya and was feeling guilty.
"Maya, come sit over here, join and chat with Grandpa. Grandpa was just praising you and Liam?" Jane called Maya over when she arrived.
Hearing that Grandpa praised her, Mayaâs eyes nearly popped out in surprise. Grandfather usually cared most about the younger generationâs career achievements and academic grades, so whatâs worth praising when she scored an 8?
Jane, seeing Mayaâs dumbfounded expression, held her hand and explained, "Grandpa was praising you and Liam for being the best-looking! He said you will definitely marry well in the future."
On hearing that her Grandpa praised her looks, Maya couldnât decide whether to laugh or not. Alright! She admitted that being fair-skinned and beautiful was her greatest advantage.
When she sat down next to Jane with a flushed face, her gaze happened to meet Liamâs, who was sitting alone on the side. He was also looking at her, with a meaningful smile, giving Maya goosebumps.
After chatting with Old Master Spencer for a while, the butler announced that they could have dinner.
Maya, having returned to the Spencer Family for a year, rarely saw such a lively and complete gathering for a meal, unless it was when Grandpa came out.
At the dining table, Old Master Spencer looked up, gazed at Liam, and sighed deeply, saying, "Liam, Grandpa is not satisfied with your work at the school recently!"
As soon as Old Master Spencer finished speaking, everyone knew the old man was out this time to embarrass Liam, probably because Spencer Clan Groupâs project in the south didnât beat Xavier Graham, making him displeased.
