Chapter 70 - 68 Sentencing In the private room, Ella noticed Maya had been gone for a long time settling the bill and felt worried, so she left the room alone to look for Maya at the front desk.

"What? Counterfeit money, there's no way Maya would intentionally use counterfeit money, there must be some misunderstanding." Ella exploded upon hearing Maya was detained for using counterfeit money, slapping the bar counter, and explained to the cashier.

"Miss, I'm really sorry, but your friend just pulled out twenty thousand in cash, and it's all counterfeit, so we had to call the police."

"I'll settle the bill, where's Maya? Let her go." Ella said, slamming her bank card in front of the girl, and said angrily.

The cashier took a deep breath at Ella's unfriendly attitude, picked up her bank card cautiously and explained, "Miss, carrying large amounts of counterfeit money is illegal. The police have already filed a case and will be here soon. I'd advise you not to get involved."

After saying this, she swiped the bank card and asked Ella to enter her password.

Seeing this, Ella picked up her phone and dialed Ethan Turner, saying, "Brother, Maya and I have a situation, please send my two roommates back first."

If those two girls found out about the counterfeit money incident, they might spread it wildly. So, Ella asked Ethan to send them away first so she could find Maya.

Just after she hung up, she saw several police officers enter with security personnel. She took a deep breath, retrieved her bank card, and followed them into the office.

Inside the office, Maya looked despondent, with a security personnel watching her to prevent her from escaping.

"Maya, what happened?" As soon as Ella saw Maya, she rushed to the police officers, grabbed her hand, pulled her from the chair, and asked.

Seeing Ella had come, Maya quickly explained, "It's fine, just a misunderstanding. Wait for me in the dormitory." She feared implicating Ella, so she asked her to wait in the dormitory.

"Is this an accomplice?" The police officer looked at their close interaction and turned to ask the security personnel behind him.

"Officer, this girl is not an accomplice. She's unaware of the situation. She was the one who settled the bill just now." The cashier who had come over with Ella explained to clear the suspicion on her.

"We're classmates. Maya couldn't possibly use counterfeit money." Ella still held Maya's hand, trying to explain to the police and take her away, since the bill was settled.

The police officer glanced at Ella, feeling helpless, and admonished, "Don't you know carrying large amounts of counterfeit money and using them is a crime?"

"I exchanged that money for my watch and bag at a second-hand shop; the money came from them." Maya explained hurriedly, fearing she'd be charged with making counterfeit money, which would ruin her life.

"Let's go to the police station for a statement."

With these words, the police took Maya away; Ella, seeing Maya being taken, insisted on following, leaving the police no choice but to allow her along.

At the police station, Maya explained the origins of the counterfeit money twice, yet the police continued their repetitive questioning, seeking flaws in her story.

Finally, they found a bunch of counterfeit mixed with a few real notes, along with her car keys in her bag.

The officer recording the statement glanced at the counterfeit money, phone, and keys in Maya's bag, took a deep breath, shook his head, and said, "You have car keys but no license, it seems you're driving without a license. We'll have to notify the traffic control department."

"No, no! I didn't drive; the car keys are just in my bag."

"In the KTV parking lot, isn't that flashy sports car yours? Was it bought with laundered money from counterfeit bills?" The officer's suspicion grew, almost branding Maya as a heinous criminal.

"That car was a gift from my brother."

"Where are your parents? Call them to come."

Hearing she needed to call her parents, Maya was stunned. Did she have to call her father? She was unwilling. Ever since returning to the Spencer Family, she never called him, and in his eyes, she never existed as his daughter. Therefore, she was unwilling to ask him for help.

But apart from her father, who else could she call as a parent?

Meanwhile, in the Spencer Family's separate estate, Hannah lay on the bed, feeling exceptionally happy, so overjoyed that she couldn't sleep all night.

Maya, that little demon, made trouble for her precious daughter last time. Now she wouldn't feel satisfied unless Maya spent at least ten days or half a month inside the police station.

All this time, she hadn't provoked Maya because she had a big plan waiting for her, ensuring she wouldn't have peace during this summer.

She knew Maya wouldn't use her gifts, yet she insisted on Elia giving Maya an expensive bag, while she herself gifted her a valuable watch.

She had long guessed that Maya, with no money at hand, wouldn't throw away such precious gifts but would exchange them for cash. So, she monitored her, waiting for her actions. Unexpectedly, she guessed right; the little demon went to exchange the gifts for cash right after exams.

However, she, fearing precaution, knew Maya wouldn't open an account but would ask for cash. Thus, she had already colluded with the second-hand shop owner to exchange them for counterfeit bills. As long as Maya dared to spend this money, she'd have a chance to avenge Elia.

Thinking of Maya at the police station now, she felt delighted, especially since Jane Spencer and Henry Reid were not in S City, and she had a fallout with Liam Spencer. Now, Maya would pay.

In the police station, Maya clutched her phone, thinking of various people, unable to decide whom to call.

"Miss, this is a serious crime. Do you think ten days or half a month and it will be fine? This could lead to a sentence; call your family first."

Hearing about a possible sentence, Maya paled with fright, thinking that the matter must be related to Hannah and Elia Spencer. Surely they had meddled.

She bit her lower lip, took a deep breath, and still dialed a number.

On the other end of the phone, a familiar voice came through, "Maya, what is it so late?"
