She looked at Liam Spencer, who was attentively massaging her foot, unable to believe that they had argued this morning, yet now all the unpleasantness had vanished.

Never would she have expected that the most arrogant man in the Spencer Family was also the kindest to her, making her feel a hint of familial warmth.

And so, she suddenly leaped into his arms, knocking him to the ground, holding his neck tightly, lying on his chest, not looking at his face, not caring that he might refuse her.

He couldn’t bear to reject her, unsure why he felt such tenderness towards her. Was it simply because they bore a slight resemblance?

Yet, he had never felt this tenderness towards someone like her before.

He let out a long sigh, raising his large hand to pat her back, saying, "If you keep this up, you won’t be able to handle the consequences."

"Having a brother is great!"

"Get up, someone’s coming."

"I’m not afraid of them!"

Though she said this, deep down she knew they wouldn’t do anything. She simply saw him as family, as a brother!

Liam didn’t stop her childlike acts, especially since this ice-cold girl was unexpectedly acting cute towards him. He couldn’t resist, allowing her to tackle him to the ground and hold on to him.

Only when he felt her about to fall asleep did he pick her up, his movements so natural, as if possessed.

He lifted her, yet she didn’t let go. She didn’t jump off him, maintaining her tight grip around his neck, her legs hooked firmly around his waist.

Liam was completely won over by her stubbornness: "Maya, your tactics have changed."

"Haven’t you changed as well? For the better!" Maya dismissed the deeper meaning in his words and straightforwardly showed her goodwill.

This was Maya’s first successful attempt to befriend someone in the Spencer Family without being mocked.

When she first arrived, she tried to sweet-talk the servants into helping her, but nobody paid her any mind. No one appreciated her efforts, and they even added fuel to the fire when Hannah bullied her.

Later, she seldom bothered to win anyone over.

If an 18-year-old girl didn’t face numerous frustrations, how would she become as prickly as a porcupine during the best years of her youth?

However, listening to her excuse, Liam found himself at a loss for words. He asked, "How long do you want to hold on?"

"Take me back to my room."

"Your motives are impure!"

"Yes! If you carry me down, no one in the Spencer Family will dare to bully me in the future." Maya was quite frank.

"Why should I help you?"

"Because we’re kindred spirits, cold on the outside but not towards each other. Maybe we can rely on each other." Maya’s words were sweet and cajoling.

"Do I need to rely on you?"

"Yes, yes! You may be alone, but I need help. If I don’t find a pillar, I’ll be done for."

Recent events had indeed frightened Maya, and she knew only her third brother could protect her.

"Why should I help you?"

"I’ll listen to you from now on. I promise, I won’t argue with you anymore or fight you." Maya acted as if she had the upper hand.

"Rascal!" Liam rebuked her while carrying her towards the door, surprisingly giving in, falling for her scheme, becoming her support.

Seeing the man compromise, Maya cupped his face and planted a kiss on his cheek, then hugged his neck even tighter.

At that moment, she felt he had the scent of her mother, so she unabashedly acted cute towards him.

Afterward, Liam opened the door and walked outside.

Just as he stepped out, he bumped into his big sister, Jane Spencer, who had just returned home. Jane was stunned by the scene before her.

Her brother was actually carrying this illegitimate child out of his room, and he did it so openly in the Spencer Family home. Wasn’t this announcing that he would protect this illegitimate child? She couldn’t fathom what had transpired between the two to make them so close in an instant.

"Sis, you’re back!"

"Yes! I am back." Jane responded to Liam, her mood evidently off, even her smile appeared stiff.

The girl cuddled in Liam’s arms listened to their conversation, quickly straightened up, leaned forward slightly, pressing her forehead affectionately against Liam’s chin, pouting cutely to greet her.

"Good evening, big sister!"

"Hehe! Good evening!" Jane’s smile was awkward.

Thinking to herself, Elia, that ill-tempered girl calls Maya a little vixen, indeed she was spot on. Seeing her charming and pitiable demeanor, which man wouldn’t feel touched? Even her ice-cold brother had been captivated by her.

Just then, she recalled the scene yesterday morning where Maya pulled Henry Reid into her act, proving her suspicion entirely correct—this troublesome girl really had skills!

After bidding farewell to his big sister, Liam carried Maya downstairs.

For a moment, the room fell silent. Everyone watched the pair dumbfounded, especially Hannah, whose cellphone slipped from her hand, thinking what on earth happened; didn’t these two argue fiercely just this morning? How come in the blink of an eye they seemed so in sync, and furthermore, Liam was carrying this little vixen back to her room?

Monstrous! Truly a vixen reincarnate!

Inside Maya’s room, Liam gently placed her on the desk, indifferently asking, "Satisfied?"

"Thank you, third brother, I’ll massage your hand." Maya said, grabbing his arm to knead it.

Their actions intimate yet devoid of any obvious romantic tension.

"Maya, you better remain obedient, or you’ll suffer a terrible fate."

Her obedient and cooperative manner eased him, yet it was not completely reassuring, sensing something amiss, plus he rarely treated others kindly. He didn’t wish to one day crush this sister with his own hands.

"Rest assured, I will." Finally, Maya achieved her goal, securing herself the best possible protector.

Thus, that night, she slept more soundly than ever, oversleeping and rushing out without having breakfast to catch the bus.

At the bus stop, she watched a familiar car approach slowly, taking a deep breath, full of hope as she gazed at the black sedan, only to find the driver seemingly ignoring her, speeding past right before her eyes.
