Chapter 104: Chapter 102: A Bit of a Sis-Con Maya Spencer turned around to look behind her and only then realized that the person who bumped into her was Liam Spencerâs date for the evening. Seeing her angry expression, Maya knew she was jealous.
To Mayaâs surprise, Liam didnât ask his date for the opening dance, but instead spent money on her.
Faced with the girlâs collision, Maya felt guilty. In her heart, the girl behind her was Liamâs legitimate date, while she was the secret relationship that couldnât see the light. So, she ignored the girlâs provocation.
With his arm around her slender waist, Liam looked at her enduring expression and bent down to whisper in her ear.
"Maya, this isnât like you."
In Liamâs eyes, Maya was a woman who always avenged grudges. You could see it from her attitude towards Elia Spencer; she wasnât a pushover or saintly, she was ruthless and clear about right and wrong.
The girl listened to the manâs gentle words, looked up, rolled her eyes at him disapprovingly, and explained nonchalantly, "Even when you hit a dog, you have to consider the owner. She came with you tonight. Can I provoke her? If she really gets aggrieved, youâll definitely blame it on me."
"Pfft!" Liam couldnât help but laugh at Mayaâs explanation. He liked to see her looking angry yet unable to express it, finding her extremely adorable in this state.
Instantly, Maya flared up, raised her hand for a slap on his shoulder, and pushed him, scolding, "Are you crazy? If grandpa and dad see us, how improper!"
Moreover, wasnât he just inciting hatred against her, making the girl from before even angrier?
"I just like to see you anxious!" the man said mischievously.
"Put me down! Put me down!" Maya panicked, hitting him repeatedly, and finally, Liam let her go.
Even though their intimate actions lasted less than a minute, everyone noticed. Not far away, Henry Reid watched Liamâs intimacy with Maya, his face turning pale. He couldnât understand why they were so close, and Liamâs gaze at the girl was mostly doting.
In the dance floor, Xavier Graham, Christopher Scott, and others watched Liamâs gentleness towards the girl, first stunned, then they understood everything.
However, the Spencers watched the interaction between the two with either expressionless faces or sarcastic smiles, as if waiting for a good show. They wanted to see if they would feel embarrassed when the old man announced Mayaâs identity tomorrow night.
The reason Hannah thought this way was because her heart wasnât pure, which is why she suspected. However, this time, her suspicion was quite accurate.
After the opening dance, Maya wished she could dig a hole and hide because everyoneâs gaze on her had clearly changed. It seemed as if she were truly Liamâs girlfriend.
She swallowed nervously and gently pushed Liam away, saying, "Brother Liam, the dance is over."
"Brother Liam, who is this woman? Why are you so good to her?" As soon as the music stopped, Liamâs date hurried over to question him.
Seeing this, Maya immediately smiled and nodded at the girl, calling out, "Sister-in-law!"
Instantly, the girl was stunned, confused. She thought, whatâs going on? Why did she call her sister-in-law? Was her brain waterlogged? Didnât she want to be with Brother Liam herself?
Beside them, Liamâs face turned green upon hearing the "sister-in-law" address, and just after letting Maya go, he hurriedly pulled her back into his embrace, hugging her tightly around the waist to indicate she had misspoken.
Being pulled into someoneâs arms in front of everyone, Maya winced in pain, quickly raising her hands to hold onto Liamâs wrists, turning her head and softly pleading with him.
"Brother Liam, youâre hurting my waist."
The girl watched their actions more confusedly, furrowing her brows and staring intently at Maya.
Seeing the girlâs expression, Maya immediately smiled and introduced herself, "Sister-in-law, Iâm Maya Spencer, the fifth daughter of the Spencer Family."
"Oh!! Oh!! So youâre the Spencer Familyâs fifth daughter! Sorry, I misunderstood during the dance, donât take it to heart." Upon hearing that Maya was the fifth daughter, the girlâs expression changed dramatically, breaking into a smile as she tried to make amends.
Liam observed someoneâs clumsy attempt to backtrack, took a deep breath, rested his chin on her shoulder, turned his head, and whispered with his lips close to her jawline, "Maya, are you so sure grandpa will announce your identity tomorrow night?"
Maya listened to the manâs question and explained with a grin, "Haha! Whether grandpa announces it or not, I am what I am, arenât I?"
In fact, she didnât care whether grandpa announced her identity or not. What she cared about was avoiding making enemies, ensuring peace in the future. Thatâs why she had taken it upon herself to introduce herself as the fifth daughter.
Furthermore, given the commotion from the opening dance, she had surely offended Sienna Carter, so it was better to stay low-key and not antagonize this big miss in front of her.
The girl noticed the siblingsâ intimacy, clearly sensing that the atmosphere was off but couldnât pinpoint what exactly. She didnât have a brother, so she didnât know whether Liamâs affection towards Maya was normal.
But since Maya introduced herself as the fifth daughter, acknowledging their sibling relationship, she couldnât continue to fuss over it.
Thus, she smiled and introduced herself, "Hello, Maya! Iâm Abigail Murray, daughter of the Murray Clan Groupâs chairman."
Listening to the girlâs introduction, Maya pushed Liam away while smiling and explaining, "Miss Murray, Iâm sorry! My Brother Liam is a bit of a sister-complex, please donât mind."
"Pfft!" Liam couldnât help but laugh again when he heard Maya describe him as having a sister-complex.
Thinking to himself, did she think everyone else was a fool? Who would believe her? However, she indeed believed it, believing he was a sister-complex.
"Brother Liam, Iâll also call you Brother Liam from now on," the girl, satisfied with Mayaâs explanation, quickly took his arm and called him Brother Liam.
Liam looked at the girlâs enthusiasm without any joy, instead removing her hand from himself and seriously telling her, "I prefer you call me Third Young Master."
Actually, there was no relationship between Liam and the girl. He was just accompanying her to the charity event at his grandfatherâs request.
Although Liam was influential in S City, he still showed some respect to his elders, which is why he let Abigail accompany him to the banquet.
Maya watched the girlâs proactive nature, squinting her eyes with a smile, happily saying, "Brother Liam, Sister-in-law, you two chat, Iâm leaving now."
Meanwhile, she was praying in her heart, hoping Abigail would keep Liam occupied and not allow them to have a third intimate moment, or she might really get struck by lightning.
Just as she was about to retreat, Liam stood behind her, stretched out his long arm, hooked her neck, pulled her back into his arms, and whispered against her earlobe, "Maya, Iâll settle accounts with you back in the room."
