On the other end of the phone, Jane Spencer said worriedly, "Maya, things might not be as easy as you think, Liam rejected the contract you helped me sign, and Kinsley’s project over there has been terminated."

"Oh! I see! I’ll go find my third brother to talk about it now," Maya Spencer said before hanging up the phone. However, she didn’t take any action. She didn’t care about work matters at all, since the money wouldn’t end up in her pocket anyway.

But immediately after, she couldn’t help but become tense. She suddenly realized that if the project was paused and the contract was rejected, would her mother’s burial be paused by her grandfather as well? Her speculation hadn’t settled when her uncle’s call came through.

Looking at her uncle’s phone number, Maya Spencer felt uneasy all over. Her uncle was in charge of her mother’s burial arrangements, so surely he was calling about that matter.

She cautiously answered the call and asked, "Uncle, is there something going on?"

"Maya, did something happen? I didn’t want to call you, but the old man said to closely watch the project entrusted to you. We were planning your mother’s burial on Saturday, but the old man suddenly said to put it off."

Maya could tell that her uncle was somewhat concerned about her. Making this call wasn’t his idea, it was mostly grandfather’s instructions.

Maya took a deep breath, thinking, these people are truly damn realistic, not giving her any chance to breathe.

She adjusted her breathing and said calmly, "Uncle, you don’t need to worry. I’ll have an explanation for grandpa. Only my mother’s matter will still trouble you."

"Alright! Uncle’s not worried."

After hanging up with her uncle, she received a text message from Kinsley, which gave her a slight sense of relief because it didn’t mention work-related matters. Instead, it read, "Maya, don’t care about other people’s business, don’t put pressure on yourself!"

Looking at her cousin’s text, Maya’s lips curved into a helpless smile, and she replied, "Thank you!"

She could ignore other people’s matters, but she couldn’t ignore her mother’s matter. Isn’t this why she came here? Maya was increasingly puzzled as to why her mother would love a scumbag like her father, and love him so hopelessly.

She put away her phone, grabbed her purse, and finally stood up from the sofa, leaving the restaurant to head to Liam’s apartment.

Even though she knew what she would be facing next, she had to go to his apartment, had to face it. She wanted to escape, but there was no one to stand in for her.

The elevator stopped at the foyer, and she took a deep breath, took the key from her bag, and opened the door.

She reached out to press the wall switch, turning on the living room light, and subsequently turned on all the lights in the house, still seeing no sign of Liam. She wondered, could that man be avoiding her?

Sitting on the sofa, she took her phone out of her bag and dialed Elijah Reed’s number again, asking, "Elijah, do you know where Liam went?"

"Miss Maya, I truly don’t know. Why don’t you try calling the boss? He didn’t have any plans for tonight, perhaps he’s with Young Master Graham and Young Master Scott."

"Alright! I understand, thank you!"

After hanging up with Elijah Reed, Maya dialed Liam’s number, whether it’s a confrontation or reconciliation, there should at least be words exchanged! He rejected the contract, suspended the project, and disappeared without a trace—what does that even mean?

What infuriated her was that she dialed the number four times and each time it was rejected. She was sure he was deliberately hanging up her calls.

In the luxurious private room of the bar, Liam was surrounded by a group of women drinking with him. But his expression was still unpleasant, thinking of a certain someone’s attempt to jump, the more uncomfortable he felt inside.

He waited for her in the office all day, hoping she would come to admit her mistake, but she showed no sign of action. It wasn’t until he paused the cooperation with the Spencer Family that she made the call. Only it was too late, he had no intention of accepting her concession.

Therefore, seeing Maya’s repeated phone calls, he hesitated not even for a bit before directly hanging up.

Beside him, Asher Norton noticed his gloomy face, his lips curled slightly; thinking, this guy managed to get his cousin out of a coma in the hospital today, what else could make him unhappy? "Third brother, where are you?" Asher Norton just connected the call when he heard the girl anxiously asking where Liam was.

Listening to Maya’s inquiry, he turned around and glanced at the man pretending to be nonchalant, saying slowly, "Your third brother is at Twilight Bar, in room 8888."

Maya hesitated for a moment hearing the unfamiliar voice over the phone. After the surprise, she awkwardly thanked him, then hung up.

Afterward, she grabbed her bag and left Liam’s apartment, heading straight for the bar!

In the backseat of the taxi, she took a deep breath, mustering up excuses for her outburst at the hospital today, knowing well that making peace with the jerk wouldn’t be easy.

A half hour later, the taxi stopped at the entrance of Twilight Bar, Maya paid the fare, anxiously pushed the car door open, and got off.

"Welcome!" As she entered the lobby, the greeter courteously welcomed her, yet she felt increasingly nervous.

The closer she got to Liam, the more tense she became, her breath quivering, imagining a hundred ways Liam might retaliate against her—kneeling down, offering drinks as an apology, or seduction? Any of these would deeply humiliate her, but she clenched her teeth and followed the server, arriving at room 8888.

Standing outside the private room, she could hear the noise inside—shouting, music, and the passion of games—everything suggesting the people inside were lively and happy. But it had nothing to do with her; maybe once she entered, the atmosphere would become awkward. Then, it’d be a crowd watching her miserable scene, as she gets humiliated by someone.

"Miss, this is suite 8888, have a pleasant stay." The server left Maya at the door of the private room, leaving her alone to prepare her emotions.

Moments later, she mustered the courage, pushed open the door to the private room, and saw dozens of men and women inside. Yet Liam sat in the middle of the main sofa, with two women leaning against him playing games, surrounded by a heap of women.
