Chapter 146 - Deep in Love
Chapter 146 of "No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother" introduces new challenges: Henry looked at Elia Spencer, who burst in excitedly, and his face showed not a... Keep following!
Henry looked at Elia Spencer, who burst in excitedly, and his face showed not a hint of welcome, but rather annoyance.
"Henry, did I come too early, did I disturb your sleep?" Elia saw the weariness on Henryâs face and walked into the room on her own, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge. She unscrewed the cap and took a big gulp, preparing herself to launch into a lengthy diatribe about someone.
Henry heard Eliaâs question and rolled his eyes at her dismissively, saying, "Hmm!"
After the last incident in the hospital where he pretended to faint, his aversion to Elia had slightly decreased because her genuine care in times of trouble made him feel guilty about being harsh on her.
However, in the days following his return from the hospital, Henryâs mood remained gloomy as he thought about the relationship between Maya and Liam. It tore at his heart.
Sometimes, he would comfort himself, thinking that if the person with Maya was Liam, it wasnât so bad; at least, they were siblings and couldnât really end up together. Thus, he still had a chance.
Even though he tried hard to console himself, his mood didnât improve. He couldnât understand why Maya disliked him so much, no matter how hard he tried, or what he did wrong.
Henry didnât know that it wasnât that Maya disliked him, it was that she disliked everyone. The reason she resisted him was that his affection troubled her.
Beside the fridge, Elia listened to Henryâs candidness, noticing the hint of displeasure in his eyes. She pouted, furrowing her brows as she pondered how to spin Mayaâs story in a way that would be shocking enough for Henry.
Then, she approached Henry, lightly tapped the bottle of water against his chest, and said coquettishly, "Oh come on! Iâm not intentionally disturbing your sleep; I have something important to tell you."
"Just say it, then leave when youâre done, donât play games." If it were Maya being coquettish with him, Henry definitely wouldnât have this expression.
Seeing the manâs impatience, Elia took a deep breath, turned around, walked to the sofa, and sat down calmly. Her hands were on her thighs as she tilted her head back to look at Henry seriously, saying, "I came to tell you that Maya is pregnant, and the child is my third brotherâs."
"What?" In an instant, Henryâs mind was about to explode. This news was a bolt from the blue for him.
He couldnât believe it; this must be Elia spreading rumors, deliberately smearing Maya just to make him dislike her. Even if there really was something between Maya and Liam, they wouldnât be stupid enough to get pregnant, and Maya had only been drugged by Elia and Sienna a week ago. How could she get pregnant in just one week? Elia must be lying.
Elia looked at Henryâs astonished face, stared into his eyes, and emphasized every word again, "I said, Maya is pregnant, and the child is my third brotherâs."
Hearing the girlâs repeated emphasis, Henry took a deep breath, trying hard to control his emotions so he wouldnât seem so nervous.
Then, with furrowed brows, he asked in shock, "Are you sure Maya is pregnant?"
This time, compared to the thunderstruck expression earlier, Henryâs face seemed to carry an inscrutable hint of surprise.
Seeing the manâs abrupt attitude change, Elia nodded blankly, saying, "Yes! The signs are obvious, she is pregnant."
Hearing Eliaâs confirmation, Henryâs lips curved slightly, and he relaxed as he said, "Elia, Mayaâs child canât be Liamâs; the child is mine."
After saying that, he placed his hands on his hips and started pacing the living room, even laughing, as if he was really going to be a father.
At this moment, Elia blew up. Her eyes widened, and she suddenly got up from the sofa, pointed at Henry, and yelled, "Impossible! The child canât be yours; itâs my third brotherâs."
Henry saw Eliaâs certainty and suddenly got angry too. He suddenly stopped walking, quickly turned around, kept his left hand on his hip, pointed a finger at her face with his right hand, and shouted furiously.
"You know that Liam is your and Mayaâs third brother. How could the child be his? Elia, I can responsibly tell you that the child in Mayaâs belly is mine. If you dare to spread rumors again, donât blame me for not showing mercy."
Suddenly, Elia was dumbfounded. How could it be? How could Mayaâs child be Henryâs? She obviously didnât like Henry, and she had rejected him many times. How could she get pregnant with his child?
Therefore, she looked at Henry, shook her head with a frown, and said, "Youâre lying; the child definitely isnât yours. You and Maya didnât have a child together; nothing happened between you two."
"Ha! Do we have to report to you if we sleep together? If you want to know, I can tell you. Do you remember the time before Mayaâs vacation when she stayed at school? I was with her all the time then, and during that time, our feelings deepened, so everything happened. And the last time on the cruise, when you and Sienna drugged Maya, I was the one who helped her with the antidote. Do you think Maya and I donât get along? Let me tell you, sheâs just afraid of you and Aunt Hannah, and she doesnât want to provoke you. Thatâs why she keeps her distance from me. In fact, weâve been together in secret for a long time. Now that the truth is out, I have nothing to hide. I will marry Maya immediately. If you have nothing else to do, please leave; I need to prepare for the wedding."
Henry found out about Maya being drugged after he was discharged and confronted Sienna.
Sienna didnât deny it but pushed all the responsibility onto Elia, claiming she was also a victim. Sienna asked him if he helped Maya that night, and he didnât deny it, he admitted it instantly.
He never expected that the lie he told a few days ago would come in handy today.
Even at that moment, his heart was aching so much it was hard to breathe, aching as if he were about to die, aching to the point where he couldnât hold on another second. But in front of others, he had to protect Maya, ensuring that she wouldnât bear any bad implications.
His candidness left Elia puzzled, unable to distinguish the truth from the lies in Henryâs words. But looking at Henryâs sincerity, hearing him repeatedly say he would marry Maya, her heart ached, ached as if it were about to die. Like she had lost her soul, she stumbled and fled Henryâs apartment.
After Elia left, Henry was so exhausted he nearly collapsed, helplessly leaning against the back of the sofa, supporting his forehead with his right hand, his face filled with pain.
What should he do, how could he protect Maya?
Meanwhile, at the Spencer Family estate, when Maya emerged from her bedroom, her face was haggard, and the dark circles under her eyes were particularly severe, clearly having not slept all night.
Aunt Hannah looked at her messy state and coldly let out a couple of laughs, immediately shouting loudly, "Oh! The Fifth Miss is awake! Aunt Parker, prepare breakfast quickly, make sure to serve something sour and appetizing. The babyâs father is not someone to be trifled with!"
