"Ah..." Lydia, who was splashed with water, screamed to express her grievance and fright.Subsequently, Maya Spencer nonchalantly took the phone Xavier Graham handed over, looked at Lydia coldly, and said, "You want so much for me to drench you; how could I not fulfill your wish?"
"Chairman, Maya Spencer has gone too far. Not a single word I said was false. If you donât believe me, you can look at the evidence on the phone." Lydia said while crying, running towards Liam Spencer, continuing to complain, wishing to tear Maya to pieces.
"Have you had enough? If you have, then everyone out." Liam Spencer finally lost his cool at the commotion before him.
Seeing this, Christopher Scott immediately reached out to pull Lydia, who was rushing to Liamâs arms, away. Xavier also pulled Maya towards the door.
However, just as Xavier was about to take Maya away, Liam suddenly said, "Maya, stay."
Hearing Liamâs command, Maya swallowed and stopped in her tracks. Lydia, walking ahead, heard Liamâs cold voice, and a pleased smile appeared on her lips.
At this moment, Elijah Reed, who was standing at the back, spoke. He said, "Miss Maya, donât be so fiery; saying a few nice words wonât hurt."
Elijah shouldnât have reminded her, but seeing Liamâs angry look, he couldnât help but remind her. He feared Mayaâs stubbornness might escalate the situation.
"Sweetheart, men need coaxing," Christopher also couldnât help reminding her.
Yet, their reminders only made Maya more frightened, more unwilling to be alone with Liam, but she knew she couldnât escape this time.
A moment later, the vast office was left with only the two of them. Liam took a deep breath, looked at the girl by his side, extended his right hand to take the phone from her, and, walking slowly towards his desk, said coolly, "Clean the desk."
Hearing his command, Maya slowly turned and walked towards the desk.
When she stood in front of the desk, she drew a few tissues from the box and began wiping the water off his desk.
At the same time, she saw Liam place the phone, which held the evidence, on the desk but didnât immediately turn it on to view the evidence.
"Itâs done." Feeling guilty for what she had done, Mayaâs voice was noticeably softer than usual.
Behind the desk, Liam watched the girlâs timid demeanor and, taking his time, grabbed the phone, looking into her eyes, asked, "Shouldnât you give me an explanation?"
Hearing his question, Maya took a deep breath and calmly defended herself, "Things arenât as serious as you think, and Iâve only been at the company for a few days. What could I possibly know or steal?"
While she spoke, Liam kept watching her ears because he found out a few days ago that when Maya lied, her ears would turn red, and obviously, they were red now.
So, looking into her eyes and fiddling with the phone, he coldly asked, "Should I believe you?"
Maya defended, "Lydia doesnât like me; sheâs exaggerating things, just trying to drive me out of the company."
"Come here." Hearing her defense, the man gently commanded.
Hearing his call, Maya felt her legs weaken, wondering if she wouldnât be able to get out afterward! Although she felt rather hopeless, she didnât want to die in his hands.
But to avoid angering him, she moved forward towards him anyway.
"Maya, why donât we look at whatâs in here together, shall we?" Liam said with a wicked smile.
"If you donât believe me, go ahead and look. I have no explanation," Maya said with a demeanor of facing death, as if she really was innocent.
The man observed her forced calm, her tightly clenched hands, and beckoned her to come closer with a gesture.
Seeing this, Maya quickly took two more steps forward, standing by his side, immobile.
Then, Liam reached out his right hand, pulling her slightly forward, causing Maya to sit on his lap, her large, watery eyes looking at him with endless grievance.
She remembered that Liam had no resistance to her coquettish behavior.
Watching her expression, the man raised his right hand, gently caressing her chin, without saying a word.
Seeing this, Maya immediately grabbed his hand, pitifully saying, "Wasnât the chairman going to look at the evidence together? Letâs do that then!" She was employing a strategy of retreating to advance.
Liam saw through her little scheme at once but didnât expose her, continuing to look into her eyes, unflinchingly.
A moment later, Liam finally relaxed his brow, firmly stating, "Maya, Iâll trust you this time."
Hearing him say he believed her, the boulder hanging in the girlâs heart finally fell. At this moment, she really wanted to hold his neck and give him a big kiss to show her joy.
But to avoid revealing her true feelings, she showed no happiness, merely pouting and looking pitifully at Liam, seeking sympathy as if she really was wronged and suffering.
Liam, looking at the girlâs pitiful expression, raised his right hand and touched the finger marks on her face, saying, "Arenât you quite the fighter?"
"How could I take her seriously? I couldnât just throw her over my shoulder!" Maya replied nonchalantly.
Watching her coquettish eyes, Liam involuntarily swallowed and suddenly grabbed the back of her head, pushing her forward to deeply kiss her lips.
When she was kissed, Mayaâs eyes were open, and her peripheral vision occasionally fell on the phone on the desk.
If the video and photos Lydia took werenât deleted, she couldnât be completely at ease.
Seeing her distracted expression, the man glanced at the phone, recalling her confident demeanor when splashing Lydia with water.
This girl always did bad things with a righteous attitude, and yet now she appeared guilty.
Knowing full well that her motives werenât pure, he didnât expose her. After kissing her, he pinched her chin, whispering against her lips, "Maya, I love your naughty side."
Hearing his teasing voice, Mayaâs eyes squinted as she smiled at him, her hands resting on his shoulders, slowly lifting her right leg to stand up from him, her small hand smoothly taking the phone from the desk, saying, "You take care of your work; I wonât disturb you."
The man watched her little move, seeing how eager she was to leave with the phone, stretched out his long arm, and hooked her back to lie on his lap.
Seeing his devilish eyes, Maya swallowed, blinking her big eyes and asked, "What do you want to do?"
Listening to her question, the manâs big hand trailed along her shirt, asking, "Arenât my intentions clear enough?"
"No, itâs work time now." In reality, her only concern was the phone she clutched tightly in her hand.
"Maya, opportunities donât come every day; remember to cherish them." Liamâs eyes were gentle, though his words carried deeper meaning.
