After laughing, she raised her two hands like paws, "roar roar" she called out, saying: "I want to eat you up."Christopher Scott looked at the girlâs smiling face, her clear eyes, and her enthusiasm towards him. He placed his large hand on the door handle, ready to push it open and leave.
Sophia Bennett saw Christopher wanting to escape again. She pouted her lips and raised her right hand, giving his hand a slap with a "smack", saying: "What are you doing? Got on the car and want to get off? Iâm not eating you; Iâm just helping you with the seatbelt."
Sophia said this and then pulled the seatbelt over, securing it into the buckle nearby.
At this moment, Christopher felt awkward. He had overthought; he assumed Sophia wanted to have car sex with him, scaring him to death.
On the way back, Christopher kept his eyes closed, pretending to sleep, avoiding Sophia, and not talking to her.
The last time he got drunk, it was Seven Murray who sent him back. He wished he could say something to Seven along the way, but he didnât say a word.
This time, after getting drunk, he was sent back by a stranger girl. He didnât want to say a word, but the girl kept looking at him, wanting to say something.
Even so, he still didnât wake up, continuing to pretend to sleep, pretending not to know she wanted to chat with him.
"I know youâre pretending to sleep." Sophia looked at the sliver of Christopherâs just-opened eye and said indifferently.
Christopher ignored her, continuing to pretend to sleep because, anyway, Sophia could not wake him up from pretending.
Then Sophia said: "Christopher, I wasnât joking with you just now. I really like you, and Iâm pursuing you."
"This time, Iâm more serious about you than ever before. It wonât just be a passing interest. I promise to be a qualified girlfriend, so why donât you try going out with me?" Sophiaâs Bennett-style sweet talk was in full swing again.
However, Christopher still didnât respond to her, treating her as if she were invisible.
"Christopher, let me tell you, many things are in the past, and you should look forward. Look at me; Iâve pursued over a hundred guys, yet never caught one, and Iâm not disappointed in life. Iâm living well, doing whatever I want. So, donât live in the past. You need to look forward, and you need to look at me! Iâm so pretty, so cute, just give it a try!"
"Pfft..." Christopher heard that she had pursued over a hundred guys without catching one and couldnât help but laugh out loud.
It was the first time heâd been amused in a while. If anything, she was indeed more pitiful.
Sophia saw Christopher laughing at her and immediately turned away, looking at him with disdain, accusing: "Christopher, look at how bad you are. You actually build your happiness on my suffering, taking pleasure in my misfortune."
Listening to her accusation, Christopher took a deep breath and indifferently countered: "Didnât you say youâre not disappointed with life? Plus, youâre living so happily without a trace of pain, how am I building joy on your suffering?"
"You canât argue with me. You have to let me have my way." Sophia couldnât win the argument, so she began acting spoiled.
Seeing the girl trying to act cute, Christopher immediately closed his eyes, continuing to pretend to sleep.
Someone as witty as he, would never be deceived by Sophiaâs little tricks. He wouldnât be moved by her acting cute, nor would he let her successfully pursue him, unwilling to be an exception among her countless pursuits.
After all, in his heart, aside from Seven Murray, he couldnât see any other girls.
Sophia saw Christopher pretending to sleep again and pouted, feeling displeased.
Then she raised her small hand and slapped Christopherâs thigh hard, angrily saying: "Christopher, youâd better be asleep; otherwise, I will annoy you to death."
So on the road ahead, Sophia kept muttering about everything from all directions and the past five thousand years, constantly speaking without pause.
Initially, Christopher was quite annoyed, wanting nothing more than to fight with her.
But after a few minutes, Christopher got used to it. He even started to find her voice like a lullaby, actually falling asleep leaning on the passenger seat.
Half an hour later, Sophia drove to the apartment complex where Christopher lived, looking at the still-unawakened Christopher. She took a deep breath, turned sideways, rested her face on her small hands, and watched Christopher intently.
"Christopher!" She called his name carefully, but Christopher didnât react.
"Christopher, are you really asleep?" Sophia probed again, but Christopher still showed no response.
At this point, Sophia was delighted, her smile blossoming brilliantly as she stared at Christopher foolishly.
She took a deep breath, raising her small hand to touch Christopherâs handsome face, yet she retracted her hand forcefully, afraid of waking him, for if he got out, she wouldnât be able to see him.
Thus, she dismissed the thought of touching Christopher, just staring at him in foolish delight.
The light in the car was warm, and Christopher slept peacefully.
At this time on any other day, Sophia would have long been asleep.
However, today she felt no sleepiness at all, remaining motionless as she watched Christopher, fearful that it was just a dream, and after waking up, nothing would be there.
Sophia had pursued many boys, but it was the first time she was this close to a man, watching someone sleep. Her emotions were heightened, so much so that she couldnât sleep.
Time ticked by, and Sophia continued to guard Christopher, watching over his sleep.
As she thought of Christopherâs desolation in the bar and the look in his eyes when he saw Seven, a trace of sadness appeared in Sophiaâs eyes, a rare display of such emotion.
She took a deep breath, helplessly asking: "Why donât you look at others? Seven Murray likes Ian Hobbs."
Sophia couldnât help but feel sympathy for Christopher, unable to bear seeing him torment himself like this, despite today being their first meeting.
At 3 a.m., Christopher furrowed his brows, seemingly having a bad dream.
Sophia immediately patted Christopherâs chest, trying to comfort him, but Christopher opened his eyes sharply, staring straight at Sophia.
Seeing Sophia the moment he awoke startled Christopher. He sat up straight, only to bang his head against Sophiaâs nose with a "thump".
Instantly, Sophia clutched her nose, almost crying from the pain, but still holding back the tears, not blaming Christopher for the accidental bump.
Christopher touched his forehead, placed his large hand on the handle, and pushed the door open to leave.
Sophia saw him waking up to leave and immediately grabbed his arm, trying to stop him.
Feeling the girlâs attempt to hold him back, Christopher felt inexplicably impatient, perhaps influenced by Seven and Ian.
He abruptly turned around, angrily throwing off Sophiaâs hand and demanded: "What on earth do you want?!"
Christopherâs outburst left Sophia dumbfounded, her resilient heart slightly aggrieved as she furrowed her brows, clutching her nose and softly reminding: "Itâs cold outside, wear your coat."
Suddenly, Christopher was dumbstruck, realizing he had misunderstood the girlâs intention, thinking she was there to pester him or cause trouble, not expecting her to remind him to dress warmly.
