Chapter 299 - Feeling Sorry for Oneself
Chapter 299 of "No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother" begins with suspenseful moments: She noticed that Liam Spencerâs spirits were visibly worse than a few days ago, and... Donât miss it!
She noticed that Liam Spencerâs spirits were visibly worse than a few days ago, and he was thinner too.Maya Spencer stood in the center of the hospital room, looking at the man standing in the doorway. Suddenly, she felt awkward, standing there, flustered, unsure of what to do.
Finally, she forced a smile and said politely, "Youâre here!"
The man saw the hint of panic and awkwardness in Mayaâs eyes, took a deep breath, and unhurriedly entered the room, taking Mayaâs bag from Sister Taylorâs hands. Then he took her hand and led her out of the hospital room.
Sister Taylor saw this and quickly followed behind, asking, "Third Young Master, where are you taking the young lady?"
Liam, holding Mayaâs hand, heard Sister Taylorâs voice and stopped immediately, instructing, "Sister Taylor, you can go back! Iâm going to Third Young Masterâs house."
Maya was more aware than anyone about her future unless Liam got tired of her and didnât want her anymore; otherwise, she couldnât break free in this life.
Sister Taylor looked at Liamâs unhappy expression and quickly said, "How could this be right? You should come home with me! Let me take care of you until youâre well, then Iâll send you to Third Young Master."
Sister Taylor was astute and had long sensed the tension between the two. Moreover, Liam hadnât visited the hospital for the past week. How could she trust him to take Maya away?
"Sister Taylor, there are people at Third Young Masterâs house to take care of me, you donât need to worry about me. If I miss you, Iâll come back with Third Young Master." Maya continually referred to him as Third Young Master, clearly defining her role.
From now on, she would no longer be his equal; in front of him, she lost her dignity, seemingly like a little pet he brought back to play with.
Sister Taylor, seeing Maya make excuses repeatedly, felt increasingly that there was a secret between these two. But since Maya insisted on leaving with him, she was powerless, only promising to visit frequently at Liamâs house to check on her.
In the car, Liam was driving, and Maya was sitting in the passenger seat. From the moment he appeared until now, he hadnât said a word. The atmosphere was awkward, making Maya feel stifled.
So, she took a deep breath, turned to look at Liam, and forced a smile, asking, "You seem quite busy these past few days."
"Hmm!" Liam responded indifferently, clearly not willing to speak with her.
"You seem thinner." Maya continued chatting, trying to ease the awkward situation.
Liam knew that Maya was chatting with him not out of genuine concern but to ingratiate herself with him. Faced with her purposeful flattery, he was very disgusted, even wishing she would go back to her cold silence, completely ignoring him, for at least that version of Maya was authentic.
So, he didnât respond to Maya, furrowing his brows to show his disdain.
Maya saw Liamâs reaction, bit her lip, lightly sighed, leaned against the car window, and gazed outside.
She no longer dared to get angry with Liam, strictly speaking, she didnât dare to be angry anymore.
She smiled at him, hoping to win a bit of his favor, to make him spare the ones she cared about, but he didnât accept it at all.
Thinking of her own compromises and Liamâs indifference, Maya felt wronged, and tears uncontrollably spilled from her eyes. She swallowed hard, not daring to make a sound.
When tears fell onto the window sill, she quietly wiped them away with her fingers. She didnât want Liam to know she was crying.
However, Liam noticed but didnât acknowledge her nor comfort her; instead, he kept his eyes on the road, driving ahead.
When they arrived at the apartment, Liam tossed Mayaâs bag onto the sofa and headed straight for the study.
In that moment, Maya felt even more awkward, standing there dumbfounded like a fool.
She felt ignored and wanted to slam the door and leave, but now her only support was in Liamâs hands, and she had no right to argue.
Standing in the middle of the living room, all the air around her seemed to press upon her. If her future days continued like this, she would go crazy for sure.
In truth, it was because Mayaâs heart had changed, causing her to feel this way.
She wanted to please Liam, hoping that he would stop making things difficult for Lillian, which made her care about his attitude. In the past, she wouldâve been happy if he ignored her!
After standing for a while in the living room, feeling empty, unable to stand or sit, she wanted to find herself something to do, to make Liam happy and stop scowling at her.
So, she walked into the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, intending to make lunch to please him, only to find it filled with just mineral water.
She pondered for a moment, then went to the study, smiled at Liam cautiously, and said, "Third Young Master, Iâll go to the supermarket to buy some things."
Listening to the girlâs inquiry, Liam didnât respond and continued to immerse himself in his work.
Maya took his silence as consent, drove to the supermarket, and went on a large shopping spree for ingredients, also grabbing a few cookbooks.
To please Liam and show him her good attitude, cooking was the first step; she needed to win over his stomach first.
So, two hours later, she returned to the apartment carrying two heavy bags.
When she set the things down, she realized that the wound on her left hand had opened up again. She gently lifted the bandage, seeing that the healing wound was torn once more.
She frowned tightly, looking at that deep mark, feeling so wronged. Seeing blood seeping from the wound, she felt heartache for herself.
She had intended to call Liam to help her, but recalling his cold demeanor, she gave up on the idea.
In front of the kitchen cabinet, Maya looked at her wound, her eyes reddening and choking back tears. Then, she took a deep breath, comforting herself that she had no retreat; as long as Brother Morris was fine, everything would be fine.
She had never imagined that loving someone could make one so humble. Her love for Lillian was even humbler than Elia Spencerâs love for Henry Reid.
Even so, she felt it was worth it. She tightly wrapped the bandage and began following the cookbookâs steps.
In the study, Liam heard the chaotic noises coming from the kitchen, feeling unsettled. It was either the lid dropping to the floor or the cutting board crashing down.
When his thoughts were interrupted, he suddenly stood up from the desk in a rage and strode towards the kitchen.
When he paused at the kitchen door, he saw Maya wearing an apron, fumbling around the kitchen. He saw her throw the fish into the pot, only to leap back three steps in fear, dropping the spatula onto the floor with a "bang."
Next, she picked up the spatula from the floor without washing it and poked at the fish in the pot. Seeing this, Liam completely lost his appetite.
