Afterwards, she said helplessly, "Maya, Iâm not you, and Christopher isnât Liam. Your methods wonât work on us.""Just give it a shot! This Saturday is Old Master Mooreâs birthday. Itâs the perfect time when you two meet to resolve your past grievances. Seven, sometimes you need to show weakness; pretending to be tough will only hurt yourself."
"Iâll try." Seven reluctantly agreed, but she knew she couldnât possibly do it.
Seven had been spoiled since she was young and found it hard to lower her pride. However, what she didnât realize was that, though she was haughty, it was far less than Mayaâs indifference. If Mayaâs icy demeanor could turn into a burning volcano, what couldnât be accomplished?
Two days later! At Old Master Mooreâs birthday party, Maya attended with her arm linked around Liamâs, and she saw Christopher entering with a female celebrity.
Maya glanced at Christopher not far away, her lips curving into a cold smile; she thought to herself, Christopher was courting disaster.
So, she forced a grin, poking Liam with her finger, and said, "Liam, I guess Christopher hasnât changed a bit. Is there any hope for these two? Maybe you should just go ahead and sign the contract."
She was genuinely hoping Liam would sign the contract, looking at Christopherâs same old ânatureâ and wanting to see what he would have left to flaunt in front of Seven.
Maya couldnât deny Christopherâs playboy nature. Now that Seven was back, he was still the same; she couldnât accept it.
Liam, seeing Mayaâs worry, leaned in to whisper in her ear, "Itâs a strategy."
"Strategy, my foot! I might believe it from others, but Iâd never buy it from Christopher. Heâs always been this way, hasnât he? I think Seven is rightâheâs always taken her for granted. When heâs upset, he torments her, not allowing her to live in peace."
"Honey, youâre right." Liam didnât want to argue with Maya over Christopher and Seven, so he quickly agreed, even though that wasnât what he truly thought.
Not far away, Seven, in a blue cocktail dress, fully absorbed Christopherâs unruly smile.
She wasnât angry or sad, just lifted the corners of her lips with a cold smile, thinking that leaving this man was the right choice back then. If she had married Christopher, she feared she would regret it now.
However, she still wanted to sign that contract.
If Mayaâs suggestion proved effective, she was willing to try turning a blind eye and pleasing him.
So, after a few rounds of drinks, Seven unknowingly wandered to Christopher. She glanced at the female celebrity beside him, half-squinting her eyes, and then suddenly started laughing.
Christopher looked at the girlâs inscrutable smile, unconcerned, as he wrapped his arm around his companion, jokingly chatting as if he didnât see Seven, yet inside he was eagerly waiting for her to explode, to start yelling at him.
However, Seven simply picked up a glass of wine from a nearby serverâs tray and handed it to Christopher, saying, "President Scott, it was my fault last time. Can we discuss the cooperation again?"
While speaking, Seven maintained a smile on her face, as if she was truly willing to admit her mistake.
The girlâs attitude made Christopher feel both appeased and distressed. He knew her words were insincere, but her attitude was still off.
He fixed his gaze on Seven, trying to catch even a trace of dissatisfaction in her eyes, but found nothing.
So, he coldly said, "Miss Murray, this is the stiffest apology Iâve ever seen. Quite an eye-opener."
In fact, Sevenâs attitude was already very good, yet Christopher just had to nitpick.
Hearing the sarcasm in Christopherâs words, Seven first froze, then immediately curved her lips into a smile, awkwardly stepping back two paces, bending at a ninety-degree angle, and apologized meekly, "President Scott, Iâm sorry, I shouldnât have been petty. Can we discuss it again?"
With Mayaâs approach no longer viable, Seven was in utter despair, but she couldnât bring herself to give up just yet. She thought if she could bear some humiliation to bring the company back to life, it wouldnât be in vain, so she set aside her dignity.
Yet, as she bent down, she didnât smile. She felt uncomfortable but had no choice.
Seeing the girl lowering herself to beg him, Christopher felt increasingly uneasy. This wasnât the outcome he wanted, and he very much disliked such insincere apologies from Seven.
So, he coldly threw out a casual "Depends on my mood."
Upon hearing this, Seven immediately grabbed Christopherâs wrist with a wry smile and asked, "Christopher, do you really have to be this ruthless? I..."
At that moment, she was truly at her witâs end, and she swallowed her words. She could bow and admit her mistake, but she didnât want him to see her inner vulnerability.
"Seven, am I as ruthless as you?" Christopher flung her hand away, pinched her chin, and laughed coldly.
Seven, feeling wronged, made no argument. Even if she won this quarrel, she would still lose in the end.
Seeing Christopher angry, his female companion quickly pulled his hand away, advising, "Fifth Master Scott, youâre scaring Vivi."
Since his companion spoke and it was a public place, Christopher drew back his hand, nonchalantly throwing a glare at Seven.
Seeing Christopher pull his hand away, the companion immediately linked her arm with his, pulling him away. After turning, she quickly turned back and, smiling, told Seven, "Girl, if you want someone to help you, be more sincere. Fifth Master likes obedient girls."
Sevenâs performance was so fake that even she noticed Sevenâs half-heartedness. So, she gave her a hint; after all, she and Christopher were just playing around, and helping someone in need might turn them into friends in the future.
Listening to the girlâs suggestion, Seven thought to herself, wasnât she obedient enough? Did she have to be as fawning on Christopher as she was? Even if she wanted to, Christopher had to give her a chance! For the company, for ToGigi, Seven was willing to go all out.
So, when she saw Christopher about to be pulled away, she immediately grabbed his wrist again, asking pitifully, "President Scott, when will you be in a good mood? When can we talk about the proposal again?"
Christopher never expected Seven would cling on so desperately. She must be genuinely anxious. He wanted to see what Seven had become over these seven years and what sheâd be willing to do for money.
Thus, he took a deep breath, smiled, turned around, and whispered ambiguously in Sevenâs ear, "Iâm happiest in bed."
"President Scott, what do you mean?" Seven understood perfectly but didnât want to face it, so she played dumb.
"Casting couch, you know? Think it through, call me when youâre ready." With that, Christopher walked away.
Seven stood there, utterly dumbfounded. She never expected Christopherâs shamelessness to reach her.
