She never realized that Liam could be so wonderful.Liamâs lack of pettiness made her feel completely at ease. She only hoped that once Lillian left S City, she could have a new beginning.
That night, Maya was extremely excited and spent a long time looking at Liam, her little hands holding onto him, unwilling to let go, until her eyelids couldnât stay open any longer, and her little hands around him loosened a bit.
After Maya fell asleep, Liam stared at her without blinking, kissed her forehead, and softly asked, "Maya, have you started to like me?"
Mayaâs docility made Liam mistakenly feel that she liked him, at least at that moment when she was asleep, her little hands kept holding onto him.
Perhaps as she liked him, there might also be some hatred toward him in her heart!
Liam remembered the hurt he gave her in the past, lowered his head, approached her lips, and promised, "Maya, from now on, the love I give you will be pure affection!"
Facing Mayaâs compromise and dependence, Liam wished he could give her his heart, but he was too embarrassed to say such sentimental words in front of her, so he made the promise while she was asleep.
Even though Maya didnât hear it, his promise was still effective, and would remain so for eternity.
The cozy bedroom, with the dim light from the bedside lamp, made the room incredibly warm.
Looking at the girl sleeping soundly in his arms, Liam felt a strange confidence that Maya would never leave him.
The next morning, when Maya opened her eyes, Liam was watching her.
She raised her little hand to rub her eyes, feeling her eyelids were heavy because she cried too much yesterday, making her eyes swollen.
Thinking about how she held Liam tightly last night made her a bit embarrassed, but remembering that he agreed to let the Morris Family go, she instantly felt much lighter.
In an instant, all her pressure vanished, so she gave Liam a bright smile, then stretched lazily and rolled out of his embrace.
Liam looked at the girlâs dazzling smile and lazy stretching body, extended his long arm, and pulled Maya into his embrace, kissing her forehead.
Maya stared with big eyes, looking at Liam for a moment, and her little hands were around his neck, persistently burrowing into his arms.
"Little thing, what are you doing?" Mayaâs little actions made Liam feel unbelievably good, and yesterdayâs gloom was already thrown to the high heavens.
At that moment, the two were like a typical couple in love, the classic fight at night and reconcile at the bedâs end. Mayaâs escape hadnât even lasted 24 hours, and their feelings not only didnât cool down but instead heated up.
Maya lay in Liamâs embrace, listening to his questioning, her little face nuzzling against his chest, pouting and acting spoiled: "Hug!"
Upon hearing Maya wanted a hug, Liam opened his arms and enveloped her in his embrace, gently turning her over, letting her sprawl over him.
"From now on, just get along like this, okay?" Liamâs indulgence made Maya instinctively cuddle his neck and act spoiled.
"Okay!" Liam planted a kiss on his face and solemnly agreed.
Maya didnât realize that the better Liam treated her, the more tolerant she became of him, even forgetting about revenge.
After the elopement incident, Lillian disappeared from S City, and Old Master Morris re-emerged to manage the company by himself.
This time, Liamâs leniency towards the Morris Family made Old Master Morris very surprised, and he had a considerable change in perception towards Liam.
Although he didnât like the few words Liam said at the airport that day, his generosity afterward still won his approval.
That day, while Maya was practicing writing in the study, the phone suddenly rang; it was Elijah calling.
Maya glanced at the phone, finished the word she was writing, and then answered the call unhurriedly, lazily asking, "Elijah, whatâs up?"
On the other end, Elijah reported sneakily, "Boss Lady, President Owen has planted lots of flirtatious... pretty... shameless girls around the BOSS, what do you want to do?"
"President Owen? Charlotte Owen?" Maya half-closed her eyes, her gaze emanating a chill.
"Yeah! Arranged during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Recently, your foot got injured, then after you eloped, BOSS came to the company less, stayed home with you, and now BOSS is back working normally, and these women are crazy. Boss Lady, you should come and deal with them." Elijah loved watching Maya in confrontations, that cold, indifferent, unexpectedly sharp demeanor, he absolutely adored.
Instead of thinking of ways to remove those women, Elijah looked forward to Maya tearing them apart, showing them the majesty of Her Majesty.
Over the phone, Maya listened to someone mentioning the elopement, her brows furrowed, wanting to hit him.
But considering his merit in reporting, she suppressed her anger and calmly said, "Ha, let those little hussies make trouble, after all, Liamâs favorite is me."
Liam hadnât confessed to Maya yet, and Maya didnât know where she got the courage to speak so confidently.
Listening to Mayaâs full-blown confidence, Elijah chuckled gleefully. He loved Mayaâs arrogant demeanor.
So he continued to stoke the flames as he could: "Boss Lady, a few of them have some past dealings with BOSS, seems like classmates, I worry BOSS canât refuse out of sentiment."
"Canât refuse sentiment? Is Liam that kind of person?" Mayaâs tone remained breezy, effortlessly seeing through Elijahâs little schemes, he just wanted to watch her fight, but she wouldnât comply.
"Boss Lady, you really wonât come? What if BOSS gets stolen away? Plus, there are two girls who look a lot like you, I saw BOSS smiling at them." Elijah, eager to watch a show, started concocting stories.
"Like me?"
"Mm! Especially good at acting cute, especially adorable." Although Elijah had never seen Maya act cute, every time he saw Maya answering calls with a mischievous grin, he knew she was acting cute.
"Perfect! Tests his feelings for me." Maya said this and hung up, not taking Elijahâs words to heart.
A few little pawns arranged by Charlotte Owen were not worth her tearing apart, in a few days when Liam gets tired of it, Elijah would naturally remove them.
Maya found her confidence laughable, yet she dared to be sure that Liam wouldnât fancy anyone else; he only liked her, just like she decided to stay by his side.
Moments later, Liamâs call came.
On the other end, Liam gently asked, "Maya, what are you doing at home?"
"Practicing calligraphy, making progress." Maya, at home, idly would read and practice writing.
Listening to the girl practicing, Liam thought, it must be her fear towards him that kept her from visiting Ella, so she didnât dare to go.
Now, Liam didnât need Maya to fear him in any way; he just wanted her happy by his side, with no regard for anything.
So he said nonchalantly, "No need to stay cooped up at home, go out, meet friends, donât get bored at home."
