"Maya, donāt hold too much hope for Liam, I wonāt let him take you away." James said, sitting down next to Maya since she seemed to be in a daze and emotional, he decided to accompany her.Meanwhile, at Liamās villa.
"Maya!" He called out as soon as he entered.
"Young master, young mistress left early this morning and hasnāt come back yet. She said she was going to the company to find you." Aunt Smith hurried forward to report seeing Liam come back alone.
"Looking for me?" Liamās eyebrows knitted together upon hearing Aunt Smithās words.
He was at the company all day today, but didnāt see Maya come to find him. Liam was at a loss, unable to guess what Maya was up to.
He took a deep breath, handed his coat to Aunt Smith, and immediately dialed Mayaās phone.
Mayaās phone was on the other end, but no one answered.
After calling twice, Liamās face grew uglier, wondering why she would suddenly disappear again.
Then he called Ella, who said she hadnāt seen Maya since separating from her at Sevenās engagement party yesterday.
Next, Liam called Seven and Sophia, but both said they hadnāt seen Maya.
Upon hearing Maya hadnāt been home all day, Sophia quickly changed clothes and went out to look for her.
She had been at her own home with her parents today, so she had no idea what was happening at Jamesā villa.
In the living room, Liam stuck his left hand in his pocket, held the phone in his right, biting his lower lip tightly, trying to figure out where Maya might have gone.
These days, his relationship with Maya had been harmonious. This morning, Maya was still clinging to his neck, acting coy, not wanting him to leave.
However, she seemed a bit down today, pouting and not very happy since morning.
Liam didnāt pay attention at the time, thinking Maya was just a little upset due to Seven and Christopherās influence, not expecting her to disappear today.
Liam took a deep breath, desperately recalling what happened yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon, he and Maya went to Jamesā villa together, and Sophia unintentionally said that she and James were alike. On the way back, they discussed the issue of āfatherā.
Thinking this, Liamās heart sank, fearing Maya might have discovered something and gone to James to confront him, hiding because she felt bad.
So, Liam immediately dialed Jamesā phone number again.
On the other end, James looked at Liamās phone number and calmly said, "Liam, Maya is with me, you donāt need to worry. Iāll send her back in a couple of days."
"Maya knows?"
"Yes!" James answered calmly.
Beside him, Maya heard James say heād send her back in a couple of days, her hair stood on end with anger, reaching to grab the phone, but James was quick and hung up immediately.
Liam heard the call abruptly cut off, sensed Jamesā heavy tone and his promise to send Maya back in a couple of days, instantly guessing they had a big fight and Maya was now held by James.
Liam knew James wouldnāt harm Maya, but who could guarantee Maya wouldnāt harm herself? No way would he agree to leave her with James for two days. He needed to get Maya back immediately; he would only be at ease when she was with him.
If he had known earlier Maya would go to James to discuss the matter today, he would definitely have brought her to work with him.
But every time only after things happened, people regretted it.
Putting away the phone, Liam donned his coat and drove towards Jamesā house.
Elsewhere, Sophia, unable to find Maya, also headed to Jamesā house, planning to ask her uncle for help.
This time, in Jamesā bedroom, Maya saw Isaac hang up the phone, heard him asking Liam not to come, and was furious, standing up rapidly and rushing to the small living room, worried that Liam might really listen to Isaac and not come to get her; hence, she started acting up again.
As Maya stood up, James followed her.
Yet, just as Mayaās small hand reached for the door handle, the door opened. A servant who had just brought food in saw Isaac also in the bedroom, so didnāt lock the door.
Seeing the crack open, James ran over like the wind, slammed the door shut with a loud bang, and quickly latched it with a code lock.
James locked the door so fast that Maya didnāt react, losing a chance to escape.
As she realized sheād been locked up by James again, she slammed her small fists on his chest furiously, demanding, "What right do you have to hold me? What right?"
"I said Iād let you go when you calmed down a little." James, being stubborn himself, allowed Maya to vent but wouldnāt relent, wouldnāt let her go or have her way.
"You have no right," Maya shouted at him indignantly.
"Perhaps not, but I have the means. Maya, either you calm down and finish your meal, and Iāll let Liam come get you." James started reasoningābut only for her own good.
Seeing James unyielding after sheād caused such a stir, Maya felt helpless.
So, she had no choice but to compromise.
Thus, she nodded, saying, "Fine, Iāll eat. Call Liam now and have him come get me."
After saying that, Maya walked to the small coffee table, sat on the sofa, pulled the platter closer, and began eating ravenously.
Seeing this little tiger finally backing off, James sighed in relief.
He had no other intentions, just didnāt want to see her ruin herself or joke about her own wellbeing.
Watching Maya devour the food, he quickly sat beside her, patting her on the back, saying, "Maya, eat slowly, have some soup."
Maya ignored the manās caring gestures, focusing on eating, just wanting him to let her go quickly.
James, seeing her distraction, cautiously asked, "Maya, canāt we sit down and talk, canāt we forgive and move on?"
Hearing this, Maya found it laughable. No way, she didnāt have that level of grace to just forgive and move on.
Even though she was sarcastic inside, she chose not to argue with James further.
As she finished the food on the coffee table, she indifferently pulled a few tissues from the box and said, "Open the door, let me go."
